[Suggestion] Hacking

+1 I want a balance, inventory and ender chest wipe.

 

I am currently looking into various methods of increasing the deterrent against hacking at the moment.

 

Please clear their .dat file.

 

They .dat file is not that important with all the plugins, just clears your inventory + enderchest + current location.

 

It will also clear their balance.

 

As far as I remember (from server hosting) your essentials balance is saved in a serparate file where everyone's in. Not 100% sure if this is still the same though.

 

Oh you're right. Maybe clear their essentials file and .dat file then.

 

That'd work, I still think that might be a bit drastical though in some cases. I think it may be a good idea to make an list of the fines for all wrong doings. For example:

-minor crop griefing: 1000$
-Using auto-MCMMO training: 10,000$ + Full MCMMO stats wipe
-etc

This way people would know the consequences and I think this will stop the high ranked members from breaking the rules (What has been done a lot recently)

 

Nah, I think we only need fines for hacking, other things are a little excessive.

 

May be so, but I still think it is ridiculous when you see president+ players getting banned for swearing, scamming etc. I think that those players should be punished as well in some way. And not just the way of having to go though the trouble of writing yet another appeal.

 

I think that it would be a fruitless task to try and come up with a procedure for every ban, and I really do think it will end up being done on a case-by-case basis. Eg. AFK-Autotraining unarmed against another player, an unarmed mcmmo stat wipe is sufficient in my opinion, compared with Auto-fishing where simply a stat wipe wouldn't be.

We also have the issue of defining that. It is very easy to say in practice that they should lose all the profit, but to actually establish what the profit is could potentially be impossible.

I do think that there needs to be fines on top of just being banned. I watch the complaints/appeals forum quite often to keep an eye on who I do business with. From what I can tell is that it comes down to which mod puts the hammer down as to which punishment you get. I think there needs to be more consistent punishments. With that said anyone caught hacking should be wiped of everything. Main reason I say this is because hacking isn't a mindless act, you have to actually go about installing stuff to do it.

I feel like there is a line to be drawn between effective punishment without wiping them from the server and ensuring that they never log onto to ECC again. There are many people who have been banned in the past who are now positively contributing to the community, who most likely would have left if they had been wiped completely.

 

I have to agree with Dewsy on not wiping them completely from the server, however, the punishments given now are pretty much worthless it seems judging from the absurd amount of repeat bans being handed out here lately.
It is an economy server and all that is typically given as punishment is a 3 day ban first time, 7 day ban second time, and either a 3 or 7 day ban for the third and following offense. With no economical and mcmmo consequence, these players continue to skew the economy and encourage others to do so also.
This is a very frustrating situation for those who do not cheat.
I thank the staff for looking and responding to most of these suggestions and knowing that at least something is being considered to thwart this flow of hacking, cheating, and stealing from those that play fair.

 

I think the first instance of hacking should be a 1 month ban not a 3 day ban. 3 days is nothing.

 

i think that for hacking maybe give them more like a 2 week temp ban the first time ban for hacking but wiping everything is kinda over reacting

 

This is needed. Its a small risk getting caught in the first place, and if you do, it doesn't have much consequences.
