Its different in that A- its a game. And B- We can't help everyone, we really can't

To prove my point using your adoption example, how do you think teenage, tween or young kids feel when people are adopted instead of them?

And thats the issue- is that it gives them hope but it probably will not be happening, there are too many people getting scammed right now. People will get upset that other people are being helped rather than them.

And yet you can use emotional examples like adoption, habitat for humanity, charity to 3rd world countries, but the thing they're missing is that those aren't scamming.

Getting scammed is partly your own fault- you take the risk of trusting someone, and sometimes it doesn't work out the way you planned. Did people in orphanages take any risks? People with poor homes? People in 3rd world countries? No.

First off you say I prove your point but nothing I said in my post has anything to do with what you said. Clou has a really good point just because we can't help anyone we give people hope which can be enough to keep them on the server, additionally we pay off what some people lost which is far more than good enough reason to do this suggestion. People can't and won't become reliant on a system that doesn't promise that they will certainly get their dept paid so that's a pretty crappy argument.

The staff of this server isn't corrupt. This decision would likely be up to phys or an admin. Besides if this system is biased the people who would get paid would be the most active members or"valuable" members. As clou has stated it isn't decided yet, but there are a lot of ideas on the table, all without bias.

Where did I call staff corrupt? I said the system would be corrupt, not the staff team itself. Again, how would you determine a "valuable" member? Most likely a corrupt practice in it of itself.

Staff run the system. The only way for this system to be corrupt would be for the staff who run it to be corrupt, which they aren't. Therefore the system won't be corrupt. Secondly you were the one who brought up the term "valuable member". Besides the "valuable" ones would be the most active and the ones who have the most positive impact on the server.

You cannot define "valuable" without it being a biased opinion. And you were the one to coin the term of "valuable", not me. So, the corrupt system would not be the staff member's fault, but the system itself.

Well considering how the players are chosen is not yet decided I promise you this, it won't be based on opinion. So no the system won't be corrupt. Even if it was corrupt the members who arguably are "valuable" to the server would be chosen.

Still, you cannot define some as "valuable" without it being biased. The point of the matter is is that the system of choosing would be biased or corrupt. And by bringing that into play, the system would therefore be corrupt, and not usable/effective.

How do you feel about it being random? That is an option. Perhaps a spreadsheet of recently scammed players (maybe from the past week, or the past month so there are several opportunities), and each week we randomly select from the list until all of the charity funds are gone. That way there is no bias. It's almost like a separate lottery.

Put that spredsheet in some kind of a software because human brain isn't capable to make 100% random decisions.

I still don't like the suggestion, but that would 100x better than an application process, then having staff members pick them.

A software isn't needed. They could just use a random number generator.

Instead of all this, put it into a lottery. But the catch is, each player can only buy 1 ticket. This CAN be regulated as I have messed around with the plugin before. Each ticket costs 1k and well, it would be the luck of the draw. This would maybe happen every week end, maybe on Fridays? 8:00Pm EST time?

    And... that is a software...

This is far better than an application process. Application process will always have favoritism. Always. It will also be biased in so many ways it's unimaginable. For example; a player that needs X amount of money but can't pay it off in time applies, but this person also pays huge amounts to the server each month. Would the server get rid of that player or give them a chance? Biased. Randomness makes it a whole ton better, but whatever software is chosen would have to be viewable by the public. Otherwise we have no way to know if it is random or not. Yes, they can tell us it's random but I wouldn't believe it.
