I do agree that BanAppeals and Complaints should be handled in a more organized way. The way they were previously handled was good, but now I feel as BanAppeals and Complaints are a bit.. rushed, quality wise, I guess is how to put it. In all seriousness I wish there was a more professional way to handle them, such as more precise procedures and processes.

For example, moderators should have the responsibility of giving an overall summary of the appeal, and assess it. Then they should specify who needs to handle it, such as a SuperMod. The SuperMod should conduct further investigation to the best of their abilities. And, if need be, they can hand it over to a GameAdmin or ServerAdmin in more extreme cases.

I feel like staff should follow the procedure that used to be in place here on ECC. In my opinion that was much more efficient, organized, and got things done easier and faster.

If you got yourself banned then why should you have the expectation of a speedy reply? What are the advantages of faster ban appeal handling, other than for the person making the appeal?? If you don't break the rules then you will have a wait time of exactly 0 seconds because you won't be banned in the first place. I would think that staff would be better using their time helping the people on the server and forums who actually follow the rules and don't get themselves banned.

 

Seems like a pretty good way to weed out the people who didn't feel the need to read the rules of the server when they joined. If they are truly going to be good members of the community then maybe they'll take the waiting period and actually read over the rules.

A ban is more effective if there are consequences (i.e. having to wait to be unbanned and not being able to play. This seems like it might be a self serving suggestion on your part due to your habit of being banned.

Plus, being a recent-ish moderator and looking back at the records I have of communication and rules, appeals are handled correctly. However, a bit of a poke to the SuperMods+ might be necessary here and there, I don't believe that the system needs an overhaul for this. The Moderators have lives too; they get busy. Right now, since we are in finals weeks and travel time, staff are likely in and out in terms of activity.

As for the fact that his ban was for scamming and dual accounting, mods (notably SuperMods+) MUST dot their "I"s and cross their "T"s so it doesn't happen again. Sure, a Moderator could have tagged the GAs, but it has likely been thrown out there on Slack and other communication sources to be handled.

 

I think staff does a great job of attempting to handle ban appeals given the circumstances. I do think it would be great to have some better guidelines in place such as your first appeal that is not to the guidelines, you have to wait 8 hours before applying again. Second time, you have to wait 24 hours. Trolls must wait 48 hours minimum the first time.
In addition, many of the current ban appeals involve people who have had multiple bans/appeals or are felons from over a year ago and just now trying to play again. It amazes me how someone can be gone for months and all of a sudden are posting an appeal and whining in forums and shoutbox how long it is taking for their multiple felony account should be unbanned immediately.
I agree it would be better if staff simply said this will not be looked at for "x" amount of time and a bump or shoutbox whine will add 24 hours.
Keep in mind the amount of ban appeals our staff has to deal with currently since there seems to be a run on cheating/hacking/scamming incidents.
A builder with first time grief ban - sure that can be dealt with quicker and I believe it is currently. More offensive bans would not bother me if they had to wait a week before it is even looked at.
My concept - Don't do the crime if you can't do the time - many times over and over again.

Have you even looked at this players history? There is nothing simple to this appeal at all and most rule abiding players would probably agree that 30-60 days more ban time would probably save many other new players from quitting as well.
I do not believe that new members are the players that are making comments about a failed appeal system, but instead, it is players that have been banned over and over again and keep getting to come back and now it is getting tougher (and a real threat that true consequences are in the works possibly) and they don't like it.

 

People who are banned shouldn't be playing victim when they're appeal takes time to be handled. If you're not patient enough to wait for your appeal to be handled then you shouldn't have gotten banned in the first place.

I disagree. If you don't even have the slightest ounce of patcientce, you shouldn't be allowed back. Period.
