So, I am aware that we have run into some problems as far as balancing SG as of late, some of them legal, and thought of this solution. Instead of nerfing buffer, str pots, or kits in general, why not simply buff non-kitters? What I mean by that is the items in chests. This could be any number of things, from higher end loot being more common, to making certain kit items be findable in chests, albeit iron-tier rare or more, to putting potions and other things in chests, or maybe even already-created bows. Below I have created several item list solutions that could of course be tweaked/nerfed/buffed depending on how they performed in-game. Option 1: Using current kit items This option entails simply putting kit items in the chests, although rare. I won't create an actual item list for this one, as its simply the kit items. Pros: Makes it possible to equal a kitter with extreme chest hunting. Easy to balance, as its simply the already used items in the game Buffer is less of a problem, as anyone can get it with luck (maybe?) Cons: Kitters no longer have 'unique' items, which may anger some of them More buffer potions in the game might just end up making things worse Option 2: Using new, buffed item list This option entails buffing the basic items you can get, even potentially getting items 'better' than a kitter with EXTREME levels of chest hunting. That occurrence would be rare, although less rare on arena 4. Diamond sword Diamonds Diamond armor Bows Larger arrow drops (possiblity for 10-15 arrows instead of just 5) Health Potions (Rare) More common golden apples Pros: Kitters still have their unique items No chance of even more str/spd pots Buffs non-kitters, but also allows kitters to get these items if they also chest-hunt instead of having everything they need from the start against anyone no matter how long they spend preparing Cons: Kitters in diamond armor. Oh dear god. What have I done Average game length would increase (pro? con?) Significantly harder to balance So really, its still a very difficult problem and I am far from certain that this is the correct solution, but I figured I'd at least throw it up for consideration. This is a well thought out suggestion. It would be great if this would eliminate at least some of the hacking that is happening due to the rewards that are so worth any punishment from getting caught currently. Maybe the hackers would play more legit if they had even a small chance of winning and earning the outrageous amounts of money that is currently possible at this time. ** Full Disclosure ** I am biased since I am really bad at any SG or PVP and possibly a little jealous of the fact that SG pays so much better (by thousands per hour it seems) than either mining or farming Prior to this, I have always felt that everything was being done to keep a balance of the economy on the server and an even playing field for all of us, but that is obviously not the situation currently.
I like this idea, my only problem would be with this point. :/ Generally +314, but with the problem listed above.
