Either way, I think the staff team has made up its mind. I bought a melon sword fro clou44 yesterday, for a rather low price. Therefore, it seems there will be no compensation given, and no change made in 1.8 on ECC specifically to change axes.

Turtwiginator95 BuilderBuilder ⛰️ Ex-Mayor ⚒️⚒️Did I know that? No. Does it matter? Also No. when that was decided there was a more diverse farming method but now times have changed and so must policies because it was enacted in the past does not mean it is set in stone. I am sure no one thought melon swords would go ways therefore your statement holds no sway.
It is not dead it still breaks the melons just as quickly as it did before the update. It is amusing to see players who say "I might as well throw my sword into lava" because it not like the sword changed at all. The break is the same, its just one tool is now better. You sword is not obsolete but the value is going to drop big time. This is the same with a real economy something bigger and better will always come out to trump current monopoly which in this case it the melon sword. This is something you just have to deal with again this isn't about the economy as a whole only the owners personal interests. Changing the melon prices will stabilize the economy while making food and farming options open to newer players. If players are going to preach helping the economy as a whole logically allowing 1.8 is what's best.
This comments makes no sense I never said remove the sword I don't know where your information is coming from but its false. The melon sword will lose its values because the axe will go faster then the sword at breaking so no one has to remove the sword the value will drop on its own. I underestimate the affect these actions will have? No, I don't you just didn't understand my point and misinterpreted it X) Again I never said to take out melon swords because their value will drop with the axes and reduction in melon prices anyways I don't know where you got this but try and read my post more carefully and ill try to be more clear. I'm not going to address the "its not right, and certainly isn't justifiable by any means" part because you arguing off a comments I never made.
Ok lets do the math based on ALL the facts. Consider if 10 people own melon swords, farm and make 20k in one hour. That's 200k generated into the economy (currently). Now consider if 100 people have these melon sword equivalents. They will make ... oh wait remember take in all the facts -.- the melons will have a price reduction to compensate for the large amount of axes circulating making then equal to pumpkins. So if your not looking for inflation then yes this is still ideal with a price change to melons. I don't know where your getting this sense that these players will have items of the same value as melon swords o.e The reduction to melon prices will stabilize the price of these tools. It wont lead to inflation and will lead to more options of farming for players and more food into the economy.
I really honestly truly hopefully wish that you please, for the sake of my sanity and those around you, keep an open mind about things like theis because I've had it with these petty arguments. As stated in reasons 5-6 in my other post.
I really hope you see the logic coming at you and stop randomly saying this will affect the economy negatively and think of others if there is no real reason to incorporate this. You decided to invest in this sword. If you want to help others, since axes are more available and they will equal pumpkins. Making them available to more people as an option for farming is benefiting the entire server. Everyone can decide pumpkins or melons and more food is generated into the economy. Its all just win win for 1.8. The ONLY down side are melon sword owners that spent a lot of money for this and that's not the servers fault. Hope you see the real logic and stop being so stubborn listen to reason I know its a big loss and im sorry but logically this is the better thing to do /:-

The way I see it is this. The server has never compensated anybody due to a server change in the past. They will never do it in the future, due to the sole fact that too much money would be put into the economy. Who knows the impact that could have? The impact of melon swords as there are is insignificant.

Turtwiginator95 BuilderBuilder ⛰️ Ex-Mayor ⚒️⚒️I agree with the server that was the player decision to by these swords the server owes them nothing.
I don't understand. It is possible to see the effect ill simplify what should happen because I know your good at reasoning ^-^. To compensate for the increase in axes and the current melon sword prices the prices for whole melons should be reduced to pumpkins. This is because a pumpkin axe can easily be converted into a eff5 un3 silk1 so melons should be treated as pumpkins. This will negate inflation and keep a balance. The only thing that would change significantly is the loss of money for players with melon swords. This would increase the money and food flow throughout the server for every player
-Simplified table-
- price of melon sword
- price of melons
+ food is more available
+ farming melons if open to more people
+ No inflation
You can see why im so exasperated at people who keep saying this is the end of the economy as you can see with the list. -

Well according to andrews farming price guide melons make barely any more than pumpkins. That being said I do think that a million dollar tool should be saved but honestly it would just be pumpkin farming on melons... It is a million dollars down the drain that I think should be saved but in the end I don't think it will. Anyway I have really mixed feelings about this and don't quite know how to express it..

StanleyMines [Resident] [VIP] [Semi-Active] [Ex-President]Builder ⛰️ Ex-President ⚒️⚒️ Premium Upgrade... I did my own study, and got that melon sword=14.9K(15K)/hour with out stoping for repairs, and food.
Pumpkin got 11.4K(i usually round to 10K when i calculate how much money I will get per hour{probs more accurate for e reps and other}) per hour. same as above, no stops for e rep or food. -

Stfu noob. Obviously you dont know what 750k-1mil is because you havnt seen more then 85k in your balance, so dont even go to "Just deal with it" just because it wont affect you doesnt mean the people who worked their asses off to achive such a tool wont.

1) if the prices for a melon sword stay really high and retain use, then i will buy one.
2) if the prices are low ~100K then i will still buy it.
Give people mining fatigue 7 if they are near melons with a diamond axe in hand. -

For example, eff10 axe doesn't break stone faster than a plain dpick.

@AbhinavA , and other people who say its a hardcore economy. How do you think we got to the status of owning a melon sword? Going through this hardcore economy. If we were to let axes (20k) to be able to make loads of money the economy loses the hardcore.
We went through the challenges, now let us enjoy. You haven't gone through them, so you should have to go through the challenges.

+1 Far too many people have gone through struggles to obtain this tool. Through a betrayal I've lost a melon sword, and had to work 5+ hours a day to regain another one. These tools are too costly to be "shut down".

In 1.8 the melons will undoubtedly become the price of pumpkins
Yes, we can raise the melon sword's speed to eff10
But in 1.8 axes work on melons like they do on pumpkins
So instabreak is eff5 for axes
Also eff10 axes would be pretty much equivalent to this... and they are cheaper than melon swords
See the problem?
