Minecraft Name: UnitedStates2002 Suggestion: Enforce late fees when a user is ban. Reason: The whole argument to not enforce late fees on the days of the user is being banned is that "It's unfair to enforce those fees since the said player isn't able to log on." Well, here's what's really unfair; The lender ends up having to pay for the user getting banned since they'll have to wait longer without any compensation while the said player is banned. It's completely that players fault that they got banned, and we shouldn't be trying to subsidize players from late fees if they get banned. It's unfair that players who don't get banned have to pay late fees, while the rule breakers get a free pass. Basically I'd like to enforce them of how nicit suggested in a reply to the thread: - Late fees do not accrue if a user is banned for breaching the agreement those late fees are a part of. - Late fees do not accrue if a user is banned incorrectly/by staff error/etc. - Late fees do not accrue if a user is banned for any reason and there is not a contract in place. Any Other Information: N/A Link To This Plugin/Is this a custom addition?: N/A
-1 While I understand the reasoning behind it, it truly doesn't help anyone. A ban is punishment enough for a player, and adding 10-100k of late fees on top of that is good enough to make a player quit. It's really a lose-lose situation, and I'm not sure this solution will fix anything.
Maybe it would encourage lenders to be more responsible with who they lend money to. Because right now it's a very low risk venture due to the fact that people who don't pay almost always get unbanned to pay it back. And this leniency also means someone can just squander away the money and then get banned, and then get a multiple week extension to pay it back. At this time money lending is a joke that's abused on a large scale. Lenders don't bother doing background checks, and they don't suffer the consequences of their own actions. Likewise the scammers can just do whatever without suffering the consequences. Because they always get reasonable time to pay it back.
I'm not in favor of a black-and-white policy for something that is far from: Here's how I think late fees should be enforced if a player is banned. - Late fees do not accrue if a user is banned for breaching the agreement those late fees are a part of. - Late fees do not accrue if a user is banned incorrectly/by staff error/etc. - Late fees do not accrue if a user is banned for any reason and there is not a contract in place. - Late fees do accrue if a user is banned due to a separate reason and a forum contract is in place. These fees may accrue until the maximum specified in the contract. Contracts will always be the best way to enforce anything regarding an agreement.
A large portion of players who get banned for an offense and then have scamming added on it do appeal and pay off debts for the most part. The problem is that you're effectively subsidizing banned players by giving them a free pass on late fees.
Yes, that's somehow how'd I prefer it to be. The problem I'm having is that you don't have to pay late fees at all, which is unfair to the lender. It should always be following the contract no matter what circumstances, unless a player is banned for staff error or breaching that specific contract. Added that to the thread.

So no, it doesn't seem like that's how you've been enforcing it.
I do get what you mean with the specified agreement I guess. I'll make a note of that in staff guidelines and close the suggestion.
