Which in itself is rather silly :p

I can only assume from your response that you do not consider
spaaaam or spaammm excessive then since the question was not actually answered. In my humble opinion these examples are excessive and are spam. -
8MasterBlaster8 Yucky CharmsBuilder ⛰️ Ex-President ⚒️⚒️ Premium UpgradeQuick question, why do you consider spaaam as spam? Is it because of the incorrect spelling or improper use or other reasons? I just want to figure out how the other side see's this as spam.

Sorry Go, I have to disagree with this statement 100%. I have seen far too many times when the mods (those that were tolerant and either chose not to enforce the rules or "looked" the other way and ignored the issue) do not enforce the rules that the trolling gets completely out of hand. Not to mention the hours between about 3am and 7am when mods are usually inactive is when we have the worst issues of trolling, spamming, and cursing.
The rule is clear on this issue:
Clause 1.1 - CAPS and Spam
- Bypassing our CAPS filter and/or typing in all caps is not allowed.
- Spam is not allowed. Repetitive words, letters, symbols that aren’t used in their correct context, or many messages sent quickly are considered spam.
I refer you to the rules:

- Bypassing our CAPS filter and/or typing in all caps is not allowed.
- Spam is not allowed. Repetitive words, letters, symbols that aren’t used in their correct context, or many messages sent quickly are considered spam.

The fact of the matter is we each have our own personal lines on trolling. Just because one user thinks another is trolling, doesn't necessarily mean that in the eyes of the mods online, etc.
It's the subjectivity factor. Yes, we need to enforce the rules to prevent what you mentioned above, but where does that begin and end (in regards to trolling and spamming and such)? That's what I'm more talking about - or attempting to at least.-

I asked and you gave your answer from your perspective, thanks.

Use of a valid English word that contains the same consecutive letters in it is spam?!?
For example- Too or Broom, I could go on with more complex words that have the same consecutive letters used. The use and understanding of the English language is very broad and this game does not need that type of moderation.
I'm not trying to start a fight, I'm just trying to understand your logic here. Which' at this point I do not.-

I really hope we make some head way with this, whether its keeping the spam rule as is and better defining it for staff and users, or have it changed altogether.

Let us take the word "spam"
I believe most of us spell it with one each of 4 letters: s.p.a.m. This is OK
I also believe that some of us *points at self* that sometimes are fumble fingered and may spell it with an extra letter (sspam, sppam, spaam, spamm) This OK.
Sometimes a word gets spelled incorrectly for the same reason above: sapm, spma, etc. This is ok.
The problem with the definition is: at what point does is cross from honest mistake into troll-ish edge-pushing?
Is it 3? spaaam? (really can't think of any time I personally have fumble fingered 3 times on the same key, but... *shrugs*)
Is it 4? spaaaam?
Is it 5? spaaaaam?
Is it 6? spaaaaaam? ssppaamm? spaaammm?
Where exactly is the "line" where on one side is honest mistake and the other is "you're being a jerk"?
I'm pretty sure that less than 3 is OK, and over 11 is bad. (as seen in a previous post) So, where is the line?
My PERSONAL opinion: anything more than 3. If you hit the same key more than 3 times for one letter, you need to lay off the caffeine ;)
Here's the other problem: no matter WHERE we draw the line, you just KNOW the Trolls will sit on it and stay there, spelling EVERYTHING with (let's say) 3 letters. YYYooouuu kkknnnooowww wwwhhhaaattt III mmmeeeaaannn??? Thus the subjective part for enforcement. Another opinion: If someone is pressing the "line", AND have previously been banned for forum / text based issues (x-ray, scamming, etc. doesn't count), then hit them again. Banning didn't work before, and they've already proven that they don't know where the "line" is, so smack 'em with the Hammer of Learning *evil grin*
So, does anyone have a definition of repetitive letters above 3? If so, what IS your number, and why do you think that your number should be the "line" (your reasoning) I'm not going to lambaste you, just curious if my reasoning should change. (Yes, I DO belong to the "Old Fogey's Club", I even have my own rocking chair)-

You are being warned, not kicked or banned for a slip-up. The warning is just that, a warning.; what you typed may violate the rules or come close to it, be aware and move on. The warning is there to prevent things from getting to far or out of hand.
Use /party or or private message if you want to 'f' around with your friends in that way.
If people were being banned for a first offense, I would +1 you. But a warning to be more considerate of other players? I don't see the harm in that.
For mods like Taylor, kudos to you. There are players/families who appreciate you being on the front lines for us.-

@8MasterBlaster8 let me just point something out. You actually spell 'Too' and 'Broom' like that, therefore it is ok. You do not, however, spell spam with multiple s's, p's, a's or m's
I fully agree with @AdmiralD and @GStoner3 woth everything they've said -

@TaylorBros22 I respect your position with the spam rule but do not agree with it. Im hoping there will be some more leeway with regards to spam in ECC's future.

To throw in my own 20000 µ$ (aka 2 cents), I, personally, see up to 3 letters being repeated as emphasis, for example "looong". This, however, does not apply to letters that are not stretched for emphasis in the normal language, for example "lllong". Anything more than that tends to get a little out of control though as I think it makes the message (harder to read|just spammy).
But I guess the rules could need a better definition of excessive...-

I personally would just like to comment on the swearing aspect of it.
No I don't think it's acceptable to slip up and say f*k in chat just because you lost at lottery. I don't really think that it matters whether you swear alot in global or you never swear at all. That word is just not needed.
And also in regards to anyone who is saying "I just can't help it"
I was the only female on a construction site full of potty mouthed men who swore like sailors, I picked up a thing or two. My vocabulary outside of EcoCity is majorly composed of four letter words, in fact there's hardly a sentence that doesnt contain one.
This being said, I have absolutely NO issues at all not swearing in global chat.
I have had some users who have had parents sit down on their child's account and ask me questions about the chat rules here, before allowing their child to join our global chat channels. We advertise as a family server, the language used in global needs to reflect this.-

Okay, here is my opinion,
Swearing:
This might sound confusing, but there are some points when I believe swearing is okay, in the right context.
Example:
User: F*** this game
(User lost lottery)
Not okay
User: OMG f***
(User lost eff7 to lava)
Okay
I mean, if your sweating because of a honest mistake, a slip up, then I don't see that much of a problem, but if you are swearing because you lost lottery, honestly, get a life.
(Forgot who said it) Someone said that bad words don't corrupt children? Um, okay, I'm a young player, sure, so I can tell you from experience it does. More and more I find my self saying f***! Or shit! And that's not okay in my family. With younger players it's just such a debate.
Spam:
User: Spaaam
^^^^^^^^^
This is not spam. Period.
Now, I'm not saying that spam is okay or the rule should be dropped or anything, but in the modern world a LOT of kids grow up using multiple letters as a form of emphasis. And a lot of young kids don't appreciate getting warned for something that they grew up learning.
Sorry if you don't agree, just my opinion
