Suggestion: let melon farming die- when 1.8 comes out make them worth a little more than pumpkins.
Reason:
Attempting to keep the melon sword at its same power level is an awful idea. For once this server had a chance for change, so the best way of money wasn't just walking up and down rows of melons spam clicking. For once we may have actually been able to experience how economies actually happen. In real life, the same market doesn't increase then remain a great money earner for eternity. Things actually change, believe it or not. Let me use an example to describe an instance of this:
If you are too unfortunate and did not live in the 90s to the earlier 21st century, you probably don't know what this is. It was a store in which you actually had to go to location in order to rent movies and video games.
You see, blockbuster was very popular during this time period. It became a multi-million dollar company. But what happened you ask? Well, time changed. The world changed. Things like netflix and on demand came out, so there was no point in driving to an on-point location in order to rent movies. There became a better, and probably cheaper version to take advantage of. Blockbuster became worthless at this point, and grew bankrupt and shutdown.
However, they adapted and created a version of on-demand labeled blockbuster on-demand.
Markets change. Things come things go. It's a part of an economy and if you honestly insist that your way must always be the best forever, you are truly not experiencing hardcore economy. If I had a melonsword, honestly I would be happy if the change went through. It would actually create a change in my gameplay.
Any Other Information: I personally will only be responding to comments that have better arguments then "we payed 1 million ecodollars"

It is an insult to players to have them vote for the server and collect massive amounts of voting rewards and then just let the most expensive one become nearly worthless (losing over 90% of its ecodollar value).
I don't understand what the upside is to your suggestion. Why is this a good thing for the server?

Just because I don't own one doesn't mean I can't say "No, don't change the new update." Because of course if you owned one you wouldn't want this to happen. In my example, blockbuster didn't want it to happen of course but it did happen.

There have always been changed in gameplay. However, this was a change that could be prevented, and was anger many users, because of the magnitude of the situation. Therefore, instead of angering many users, and changing the entire economy (which is dangerous) andrewkm decided it would be best to continue to keep melon swords where they are. Melon farming will die, eventually. Trust me. Pumpkins used to be the one crop for everybody, and now only residents/new mayors farm them with pumpkin axes. Builders farm cocoa beans and other tool-less crops. And some richer users farm melons, while others mine or sell items in a spawnshop. This is the most diverse economy we've had in a while, and I love it. I personally just had 3 melon swords, sold 2 of them for an eff 7, which I look forward to mining with, and enough ECD to get a star rod if I would like. I can't wait!
However, I do still own one! I feel as though this change is unneeded, as the economy is extremely diverse as is. -
Why are we a hardcore economy trying to be based on real life, yet when we have an opportunity to express that economies can actually change, not necessarily for the better for everyone. The upside is allowing change for once, not having the same thing for eternity because people don't want to lose money.

Ecc has plenty of markets that change already. Mining goods, nstars, exp, spawnshops, enchanted tools to name a few.
The change is too drastic and it targets an item that has encouraged support of the server via voting.

The issue being that the current economy is so diverse. We don't want one where everybody farms pumpkins again! We want everybody doing different stuff, and that is what we have!

Only a handful of users with melon swords voted to get it. Most probably just bought a bunch of nether stars.
Everyone is just farming pumpkins and melons for hours. I would love to see cocoa beans, wheat or other crops that aren't so boring and easy to farm make some good money. -
Probably not. But that's because of initial investment. If I spend 1 million ECD on something, I expect to make marginally more money than if I spent 50k on it.

The nether stars they bought came from someone voting. There wouldn't be as much demand for the stars if it weren't for the msword and the msword owners. The msword and the owners help encourage other players to vote by increasing the nstar demand/price. It is irrelevant if they bought them all.
Also, people do mining, spawnshops, woodcutting, excavation, building, etc for money. The list is quite long.

Remove melon swords from a star tool store and netherstars will be effected. However, there purpose is not to get sold. It's to buy star items, which there are still plenty besides melon swords.

I'm the proud owner of a melon sword, and yes, this should happen. I feel that when shit happens like this, you have to power through it, and learn how to rise above the challenge.
