Minecraft Name: Jacob43365 Suggestion: Add the Dynmap plugin to have a live map of the server Reason: Makes it easier to find town spots/explore the world Any Other Information: We could disable the live playermarkers to reduce lag, or have it only update once a day so it wouldn't really cause any lag Would be only used with legacy and rising. Link To This Plugin: http://dev.bukkit.org/bukkit-plugins/dynmap/ For towns: http://dev.bukkit.org/bukkit-plugins/dynmap-worldguard/
We used to have one, but it was removed due to the mass lag it caused. I think the same result would occur, but it's worth a shot.
The server was a lot more "unreliable" back when we had the livemap, the server has changed which leads me to think if we had it now lag wouldn't be an issue, +1.
Like I said we could set it to update only once/twice a day so then it would hopefully barely cause any lag.
We would have to disable it in the mining world, I think... Does it show underground? Or just surface lvl? Lag probs too.
This plugin does cause problems constantly rendering the map all the time. If we had to render the map once per day, it would have to be at off peak times to create as minimal lag as possible. If this where implemented, only legacy and rising worlds should be rendered. Mining, Nether and other worlds seem pointless to be rendered IMO. I'm +1/-1 with this.
Or even earlier... Around 7am GMT there are about 20 people online. I usually pop on at that time when I get up for school.
+3.14 for the suggestion. +0.001592653... for the idea of rendering t one per day at extreme off-peak. Result: +PI!
Having a lag spike for 20 seconds with 20 people on won't bother anyone. They will be happy that the spike is for a good reason (daily map render)
