Suggestion: Make Forum warnings immediately and publicly visible to all users.
Reason: So all users will know what is, and what isn't acceptable forum protocol.
Any Other Information: I am seeing a lot of (what appear to be) unwarned postings in the complaints/appeals section.

the point is that other users need to know when a warning is issued so that they know what is and what isn't acceptable behavior. A private invisible warning does nothing to educate the community. It encourages misbehavior by not publicly saying that this behavior is inappropriate, if it is in fact inappropriate.

ok so the mod comes:
Hello, This is unacceptable behaviour. <whatever> is not allowed. Any more of this and the person will get a stern warning
Or something like that -
I saw what you said in the shoutbox and I couldn't agree more. Minimodding has been going on recently and I know it is frustrating for people like me who get cautioned or warned for simple stuff while absolutely nothing is done for multiple offenses. I LOVE to be notified when a user is warned.

Forum warnings (also known as "verbal" warnings) are fine, and are usually done, anyway. Depends on the circumstances of what rule someone broke on the forum.
Publicly displaying warnings from the forum system is not fine. Do you see people's parking tickets up on display? What about any laws broken, times you've been brought in, shoplifted...? You don't. People shouldn't have all of their felonies sticky-noted to them. If you want to know what someone has done, do some digging (much like requesting information irl). -
im not saying keeping the number posted somewhere on the profile
im saying give the warning publicly
or else im going to assume no warning was given
like a because thats what it looks like -

Well, I have a few things to state. One of your arguments is so that the public can know what is and isn't acceptable. Everything listed in the forum rules as not being okay can results in a forum warning. To name a few: Cursing, trolling, unnecessary and continual posts on another person's ban appeal/complaint, necro'ing (when excessive), bumping a thread (when excessive), flaming and more. Everything we say 'Do not do this' on the forum rules and/or specific section rules are what result in a forum warning.
As for giving the warning publicly. I have to ask why. In game there are times when we warn privately. There are issues that we decide not to bring into global. In fact, I would say the forum warning system works similarly to our in game system. When a player has messed up only enough to get a verbal warning, we give a verbal warning. In game this means "Don't curse." On the forum it often means, "Do not post unnecessarily on another person's post." Now if that person continues the behavior we then escalate our response. The players are not privy to when we kick someone in game. You guys don't see the kick/ban reasons or when it happens. So why should we allow you to see the forum warnings. They are essentially the same thing.
That all being said, just as with bans/kicks, Forum Warnings are between that player and the staff team.

What I am asking for is that when a forum warning is issued for posting in a thread unnecessarily, or flaming or whatever infraction it is, that it be noted publicly in that thread so both the felon and the public know that a) don't do this and b) the felon was issued an official forum warning.
I don't see that happening lately and people are getting away with it.
I make a conscious effort to not post in appeals/complaints because that is a rule, and I try my best to follow the rules. It frustrates me when people do not follow the rules and there are no repercussions from it. Its unfair to the people that do follow the rules to not punish those that don't. -

So your issue is that you can't SEE that the person was warned. And because you can't see it you assume that they weren't? -
Revanrose6 Sith LordECC Sponsor Tycoon ⛰️⛰️⛰️ Ex-EcoLegend ⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️ Prestige ⭐ I ⭐ Gameplay Architect Premium UpgradeWell, I hate to say it but why is that a problem? That person being warned is, as I have said before, between them and staff. We don't publicly announce "We have kicked ____ because he did ____. Thought you should all know."
-
So when UserX makes unnecessary comments in a complaint/appeal it is of no consequence to the other users whether or not their comment warranted a warning...
*shakes head* -
Revanrose6 Sith LordECC Sponsor Tycoon ⛰️⛰️⛰️ Ex-EcoLegend ⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️ Prestige ⭐ I ⭐ Gameplay Architect Premium UpgradeYes, that is what I'm saying. Why should it be aired publicly? Would you have wanted your forum warnings you mentioned earlier aired publicly?
-
Honestly I wouldn't mind. Maybe someone can learn from my mistakes.
What irks is that this DOES happen, people DO get publicly issued warnings. What I'm saying is that it should always happen.
Would you agree with the statement that people do get forum warnings issued publicly? Because I really don't want to have to dig up examples. -
they should be warned publicly for the same reason staff warns users in global. They do warn users in global still right? Because I haven't seen much of that lately either.
