    The Melon Ax

    Suggestion:
    As you can see melon swords may be worthless in 1.8. This is because now axes will mine melons faster instead of swords.I do not think this is fair to many people who have bought their melon swords at such high prices such as 1 million. Instead of doing nothing when this update comes out i recommend that you were to make a item for an item trade sign at the star shop. This sign will be so the player can get a new melon ax by trading in a melon sword. This melon ax will have the same enchants of the melon sword. Along with this axes should not be able to get silk touch and fortune at the EXP shop to help stop a big deflation rate of the melons. Also pumpkin axes will no longer come with the enchantment fortune, because it serves no purpose in pumpkin farming but just an added bonus that will cause big commotion when this update is put in place. This melon ax will also take the spot of the melon sword. I understand that people will still break melons with their pumpkin axes with fortune on them but this will still stop many other people from abusing this update.
    Reason:
    I think this because melon swords are very expensive and melons now being able to be broken faster by axes will throw off the economy majorly, just like America's Great Depression in the 1930's, making many people purchases basically useless.
    Other Information:
    You will put the melon sword to melon ax trade sign near the melon axes location, and have some developers try to modify the sign enchants plugin to have axes not be able to get fortune and silk touch unless you have the enchant command.

    Good Question
    Eff 10 axes prices will rise not causing too big of a riot but instead more happy people than sad. This will also not allow them to get the melon itself but the melon slice which price shall decrease along with the regular melon.

    This suggestion is going in too many directions.

    People won't want to trade an msword for an axe with the same enchants. Those axes are like 15k.

    Something needs to be done, but not something complicated like this.

    The sword will not break the melons the way it does now so trading it in for the ax will allow it to be the exact same thing as the sword because in 1.8 the eff on the sword will not break melons any longer so trading it in will be the best decision.

    People paid hundreds of thousands for those swords. You are suggesting they have to trade it for a tool that is 20k tops. That is not going to work, if you can't see that, I don't know what to say.

    Yes but these axes will jump up in prices as soon as the update is in place and the sword will be worthless after the update due to the sword not working on melons any longer
    It is simple economics (supply and demand) being on a economics server it should be looked at very carefully

    Easy solution, silk touch will be disable for axes. That way they collect only slices which is like 3/4ths the actual Mellon price. The sword will work still, its a plug in and not actually part of minecraft. If it does stop working, I'm sure an updated version of the Mellon sword will come out and swords will work again.

    eff 10s wont go up in price as eff 5 and eff 10 both break melons instantly
    I made this video not to long ago this is melon farming with a eff 5 on the latest snapshot.

    We cant just forget about it melon axes are coming no matter what we do as mojang has made the block break speed the same as pumpkins.

    Eff 10 axes are worth around 800k don't know where you got 20k and eff 5s preform the exact same function on melons.

    There are probably thousands of eff5 silk axes out there on ecc already. They will never become rare and expensive.

    If the axe breaks melons instantly, then andrew will lower the melon price to be the same as pumpkins. Farming prices are always stabilized.
