But when the server restarts all of a sudden.. I don't think stupidity would matter then.
Let me explain what I mean.
Step one - mine for a week
Step two - place all of your ores in the mining world
Step three - you are fortuning and you have all of them down. All of a sudden you see the message 'Mining world being reset in 1 min'
Step four - leave the mining world
Step five - lose all of your ores.
You see, its not how 'stupid' you are, its a coincidental thing. And ive seen it happen before.

If you're going to make a suggestion, you need to be open to negative responses instead of fighting, arguing, and bickering over everyone's different opinions. -

a 24 hr notice. would be nice +1

I often see notices on Twitter - even 24 hour notices. And when I am in-game or talking to people in-game, I often see/hear mention of a reset much earlier than "1 minute." o_0 As well, if you look for Andrew's alert in-game for Nether reset, that often means Mining will be reset, too. Most times there is a half hour or fifteen minute heads-up, which is more than enough time to get your things.
I've lost my stuff to various regenerations before, but I agree with Mission. If you do not want to lose your stuff, do not put yourself /your stuff in a potentially "dangerous" place. (Even though I like that idea.. Helps to economy by things going "poof.")
Make sure to look at chat and use your resources (Twitter, in this case; sometimes shoutbox).
Other than keeping on top of a day early notice on Twitter - and maybe adding Facebook into that mix - I see no reason to have a bunch of alerts cluttering the chat even more. -
It was a good discussion. I didnt agree with his idea, he didnt agree with mine, so we talked about it.
EDIT: Just saw the quote you were talking about. Agree that that was an unneeded rude response. Sorry, Mission001. -

I think this could be useful. I am always rushing out of the mining world so that I don't get stuck in the void.. I would very much appreciate this too.

By it self, of course not. But when you start adding alerts like this, there will be people most days (after about a month) asking and spamming chat: "Was there a warning for Mining World reset yet?" This is a very, very common things for such alerts that are being proposed in this suggestion. I've seen it all too many times with previous ECC things (such as Monster Hunt) and on other servers + games in the past seven years.
-
There is always a risk in losing your stuff, and I understand your point about now putting yourself and your belongings in dangerous places. But, however, a few simple notifications a while before time is no hard task to overcome. Also, if I never put myself in a dangerous place, then there would be no mining or no exp for me. I understand my risks such as lava, suffocation, mobs, etc, but I dont think I, nor anyone else, deserves to be negatively affected by something that is such a simple fix.
-
But it isn't a "simple fix." There is absolutely no guarantee that anyone will see these notices in-game. They could be offline, the chat could be busy, etc. It would cause people to "spam" chat, always asking, "has there been any alert yet?" That is why I suggest Twitter and Facebook. Both with always have the notifications - notifications that will not "vanish" after 30 seconds and - logically, anyway - negate people from asking in-game, "did I miss any notifications?"

Your fine buddy, we are simply discussing it :p
Anyways, I agree with Moofink but if it was implemented, i would like to be able to disable it forever.
Because having to login, already i have to type /sg messages and /lot messages because they dont stay disabled forever. And i really dont want to disable another thing everytime i login... -

...Hardcore economy. We warn you guys by telling you it could happen at any time. I don't see a point in giving a warning. I like it being random, its an ever changing thing. Could log on tomorrow and find I need to now adapt to the mining reset instead of using the old one.

Due to how administration is run, this would be very hard to do. Currently, the most warning we are able to give is via Twitter. Please keep a look out for those posts. Maybe in the future we could give better notice but as of right now, the system will not be changing.
