Hmm, this will most likely be an annoying hurtle for Andrew, I can say the least.

But he said there would be no more world changes, mainly since it's upsets players and it causes him no end of work.

 

Adding this to the main world would screw up so many things, I doubt Andrew would even bother. The mining world, obviously, would be a given though.

If, at all last resorts, Andrew does reset the mainworld (very unlikely) then no, you won't lose your town, it'll just get a transfer over to the new map.

 

Okay, then if that is the case, I'm fine with this suggestion.

 

Since I wasn't around when the last map reset happened (quite a while ago) I'm entire unsure if the location will be up to you, or the town will be placed on the same coordinates (might end up in an ocean :p).

I also have no idea what happens to everything else. Andrew certainly couldn't have moved every doublechest of your stuff over could he? He might have been able to transfer you inventory and Echest (.dat file) but everything else would probably get deleted. Your town (buildings, ect) would probably also get deleted. Doing 300 worldedits of towns would take forever.

I'm only speculating here though, but from what it looks like, it's pretty bad.

 

That would open up some towns right next to spawn....

 

+1 i would stay on ecc if the map was reset.

 

A lot of people would but, still, some wouldn't, and we also lose a lot of time when builders log in due to map being in chaos.

 

I would love for every town to be gone, there are to many inactive people and its taking up space, i say we start fresh. If anything you have a temporary application for you're town to be transferred.

When you do a map reset everything is gone and a new map is generated. Thats why i said "have applications to have you're town transferred.

 

I agree with you get rid of the towns that are dead with nobody in them.

 

I am against this, we can just expand our map, thus not loosing users, A reset will make many users upset and then they quit.

 

Map resets have been discussed somewhat recently (somewhere in General Discussion, don't remember the exact thread, but it was by Andrewkm), and it was quite clear that the map will never reset.

After the first reset - note, probably 25-50x smaller than this would be - it was absolutely chaos and pain, and took about two weeks before anything became somewhat normal again. Double two weeks of stress, chaos, and pain, times who knows how much. This won't happen. (I believe Andrew even said before that he would not reset the map, even if volcanoes were added (which he seemed to really, really, really want).)

Likely, if Andrew does anything with the 1.7 update to get the new biomes, he will expand the map again. New generation is (supposedly) going to be 1/5th water generation, compared to the current 2/3rds (?) water generation. Expanding should, in theory, create more land than ocean, and we will actually get more land for people to use, including new biomes.
