Can a staff member please lock this? It is just turning into a flaming war and besides this is a really stupid suggestion and will not ever happen...

I am going to give one last warning. There have been some posts, albeit early on, with some valid points and out of respect for them I am going to leave it open.
Please take notice of Revan's warning though, any more trolling/flaming etc and this suggestion will be locked. -

Sorry James but I don't agree. If people already paid for them, there is no way to get that money back. Sorry again,

Also, as a proper response to this thread, I would like to hear the defense of any official conclusion, from a staff member, as our SG kit system is indeed, such a contentious subject.
It is clear from reading SG-related chat in-game, players very often do not understand and have problems with our kit system.
We need to know why it is the best option for us, and if it's not, what we can do to make a better option happen. -

James, besides the fact that in your opinion (and they are to an extent) the SG kits are "over powered," what inspired you to make this thread? This has been a thread that's been posted multiple times, but every single one has been denied, rejected, turned down, etc... Your reasoning for why this should be changes is kinda vague, so I really don't know which way to go.

No one is going to pay $15 to have a kit with just a non enchanted wooden sword. People buy kits so they can win. They have to be over powered to some extent or no one would buy them.
-
Now, why exactly do you not like kits, James? I know you say their OP, but why do you think their OP? Have you had an experience with kits that has caused you to think this way? Also, what kits do you have, and how often do you sg?

@James4747 +1 I hate when I kill people with my kits cuz I feel so OP and hate getting virtual currency to fund my raw fish addiction. I should have my $55 worth of kits removed so I don't hurt your feelings when you lose. @NAVYSEALS2000 @vengfulbacon

Below is a compilation of related posts from Revanrose, Khobbits, and Kukelekuuk00 since March 17 of this year. (No related posts from andrewkm)
While some of the posts are conflicting, basically, these staff members attest that kits provide a significant advantage in SG, provide crucial funding to the server, and provide a more diverse SG experience. However, some noted problems were raised regarding the OP-ness of a few kits, the lack of higher numbers of SG players, the lack of sufficient alternative systems and the problems associated with changing existing features.
This thread is ultimately intended to produce an effective, fun, new, profitable and implementable system to be proposed as an alternative to our current SG set-up.
In finding the information below, I understand how redundant topics can be.
I would like this thread to be a realistic, collaborative discussion on new ideas.
Please read below before posting further proposals.
I will consider the situation tonight and make a post when I have a better handle on the challenges that exist.
Revanrose - May 2
"Donations are the blood of this server. They are the life force. Kits are now a critical part of that life force. Perhaps, if we had done this previously, it would have worked out."
"Yes SG is basically at a point where it is pay to win, but not for the reasons portrayed in these suggestions. It is pay to win because those who haven't paid are not really coming up with solutions."

"Let me be honest here, I don't seem this system as working at the moment. I think it might overcomplicate the code for 1. Secondly, it appears like it discourages donating for a large number of kits. At that point, why donate for ANY regular kits. Find the the perfect load out for you and donate for ++ version. Personally, what I have done on occasion is buy a regular version of a kit, try it with my other kits, if I like it, I donate for the + or ++ version."
"Changing features in a drastically negative fashion is never a good idea."

"From what I understand, the SG system cannot have 2 different types of SG simultaneously on the server. I might be wrong about that but @kukelekuuk00 could confirm or deny that."

[In response to the idea of separate arenas for kits and non-kits]
"I never said that. It's easily possible. But if it's something beneficial to the server and to its users is still uncertain."

Kukelekuuk00 - April 5
[In response to "[Suggestion] Separate SG arenas for donators with kits"]
"This is an economy server, the purpose of this server is to get money and buy things. kits are one of those things you can buy.
EVERYTHING is obtainable with in-game money, this includes kits. Because of just that, I don't think this should happen. New players come to an ECONOMY server, not an SG server. The SG we have here is made to work with our economy, kits are a vital part of that.
This is because of 2 main reasons.
1, they add diversity to SG. (Splash potions, enhancement potions, bows, swords, armour, invisibility)
and 2, they get more donations, this also stimulates the in-game user-user market for selling donations. I didn't buy my kits from my own money, I bought them with giftcards and in-game money, and a basic kit is only a week's worth of work for anyone with a decent pickaxe. (assuming you spend about 1-2 hours a day mining)
I used to believe kits are overpowered. (although I do think spy's invis potion needs to last 1 minute instead of 3 minutes)
But now I think something different. Everyone can obtain kits, and you don't necessarily need to play SG to make money. Therefore it's easy to obtain such a kit and get on a more even playing field. The rest you need is simply skill.
Also, you're assuming everyone on /who plays SG, and that everyone who doesn't have a kit thinks the same way as you do. Quite a naive assumption, might I add. As I've seen plenty of non-kit builders completely destroy kit users.
It's a matter of skill and dedication. Not a matter of removing that VITAL aspect of the ECC Survival Games."

Kukelekuuk - April 1
[In response to "[Suggestion] HG and SG"]
"We have hundreds of kitters, but there's only around 40-50 playing during on-peak, and like 20 or less during off-peak.
Not everyone plays all the time, the amount of people playing at the same time compared to the amount of people playing in total is quite low.
The point I'm trying to make is, just because there's 50 people who want this, doesn't mean there's always 50 people playing. In fact, I expect less than 10 people to be playing this at the same time during on-peak. (It will be completely dead during on-peak)
Instead of playing these arenas, people will go for the more popular arenas. This is because of a couple of reasons.
Money. The popular arenas have a bigger payout, this attracts people.
Bigger arenas are more fun for a lot of people, therefore attracting even more users.
There are too many users who will play the popular arena, leaving the less popular arenas in the dust.
Now this plan may work if we had 4-6 times more people playing sg. But we don't, there's simply not enough players to fill the maps and give it a little bit of popularity."
"If many people play in the non-kit arenas, then kits become worthless.
If not enough people play in the non-kit arenas then non-kit arenas will simply wither and die. Because people don't like playing against the same people over and over, if there's even people to play against."

SG needs a change. Why?
- Potentially will bring in new users. SG is a great advertising strategy, being a popular minigame on minecraft currently.
- Evidence SG brings up interest in ECC:
- The two highest points are when new SG trends came out. June 2013 with the SG summer project and February with SG being released.
- Evidence SG brings up interest in ECC:
- Original intent
- I hope the original intent for SG was for everyone to have fun, since that's why we all play. Sadly, I would now have to pay in order to actually have fun considering there are multiple kitters per game usually when I'm online.
- Overpowered
- Buffer + MIQ is all I have to say for this.
or...
Increasing the price of kits - Potentially will bring in new users. SG is a great advertising strategy, being a popular minigame on minecraft currently.
