I dont think people really look to the color of peoples tags for their rank I believe they look at tags. Even if their name is a diffrent color their tag would still be their rank. And if people were using it to impersonate staff the staff could still always tell them to nick off. I would agree, but there's problems with this idea as well. When does staff decide that it's impersonating staff? We can't just add another "staff discretion" rule, because staff members can have different opinions. One thing may be deemed okay by staff earlier on the day, but later when there are other staffmembers on it could be decided upon that it's not okay. You as a user has been told that it's okay, and that it's not okay by different staffmembers. This looks bad on staff. And tightening the rule so it's very specific leaves room for loopholes.
But that's not allowed anyway, the colours don't matter. You're not allowed to pretend to be anyone else, staff or not. The problem is that the colours can be used to trick users into thinking you're staff, you don't need to pretend to be a specific person.
So as I was saying earlier, where does the line get drawn? When is it deemed bad, and when is it deemed okay?
But when do you look too much like a staff member? Who decides and when is it decided that it looks too much like staff?
+1 Honestly for me, I want thosse colors to be allowed, because it would give more various color combination to make it pretty for Nick+ users.. I think rights for having pleasure for picking various colors should be given for Nick+ users, since it's total $100 USD worth features. Well, I know why it's forbidden, obviously it's to prevent newbie players getting confused non-staff memebers as staff member. But since there is always ** before the name, I don't think it will be that much chaos as andrew concerns. I mean, most of the case when you see chat, except pm, it's very easy to notify that they are not staff, if you see their tags. And for pm situation, even if you can't see the rank tag, you can still see ** part's color. I think it's not that much "chaos" as people concerns... I hope Nick+ users can have more choice on making their name pretty... But that's just my opinion. I know some other players will say ** isn't enough to organize ECC's name system. I just think that more choice is bigger pie, than those side effect of confusion.
Exactly but also with new players they might not know what staff colors are so they might think someone with a teal nick is just a player
Either add that as Nick++ or not at all because what happens when your in auction chat? You see that name as a resident and think, Oh Hey a Mod! I need their help! And then it gets messy from there. -1
-1 I believe that those colors are earned by applying for them. I've actually heard those colors called "Server Admin Red" and "Developer Blue" on multiple occasions.
