Allow all nick colors, as long as staff colors aren't the first one. There's no harm then, is there? You'll know who's staff by the first letter. Everyone has a similar nickname, and the staff colors are the best colors. Is it really that bad...: 0524
How many people do you think would actually do that? If we must, why don't we do something like "less than half of your characters can be staff colors."
I think it should be the entire name because you know if they are staff by the clearly visable [Moderator],[Supermod],[GameAdmin],etc
Then say it's too close to staff colors and ask someone to change it. That staff-discretion policy is already in place for cases of impersonation and works fairly well so I don't see the harm.
Also, if I remember correctly, the two asterisks in front of your name are the color of your rank, so no matter what, you could be differentiated. I.E. From: **Portland: Hi, how are you! Even though I have the SMod red at the front, the two asterisks will denote I'm not staff. Hence, if screenshots were provided showed that I was impersonating staff, they could warn/ban/whatever you so wanted to do. This would just be a matter of a rule implementation and adequate policing by users...I'd hope people would be willing to call each other out for impersonation. +1. P.S. If this is implemented, that "Portland" nick example will likely happen
I'd say +1 since we paid for this feature over $100 if this is possible I'd love to see it, if not at least remove the cool down for nickname change.
-1 sorry to be a partypooper but I already find the colors sort of distracting because every time I see a speck of purple I have to glance over thinking I got a pm and it looks like a color vomit strobe light with all the nicks popping in and out of that corner. Chat is already a mess that takes new users way too long to figure out and the last thing it needs is additional anything cosmetic. Moderators should be as instantly and unmistakably identifiable as possible. But that's just my opinion.
I agree with this. It's important that staff members can be easily recognised in chat, especially in times of high commotion. Besides, we don't want new players mistaking others for staff members because of their colours. Sorry, but it's a -1 from me.
-1 from me. Sure it won't cause huge issues, but there will be some trolls and people pushing the rules. Staff colors are unique for a reason, to distinguish who is there to help and who has the authority to punish the wrong doers. We don't want to confuse builders even more when they are already overwhelmed with 10 different colors in chat and their title being "Builder" thinking they are official server builders
People do both. When I see staff colours I know it's staff. But I won't know who or what rank until I look. It would certainly throw people off and lead to confusion.
