Minecraft Name: SKSoccer Suggestion: Overall, I believe we should introduce an official warning system to the in game community. No, I am not saying that we should add an additional plugin to keep track of this information, rather have either a public or private record, depending on staff preference for the number/date of official warnings. Basically, on the forums, there is a real warning system, with automated punishments for those that receive certain numbers of warnings, I believe it is 3, 5, 10, ect. However, in game, there is no such system. Basically, when a player receives a warning from a staff member, there is no documentation, besides the complaint itself. Yes, I realize that the staff team is aware of approximately how many complaints a user has against him/her, however an official system would be to the advantage of the server as a whole. Reason: Currently, many players do not seem to be getting the message. When they receive the warning after a complaint is posted against them, usually language/verbal abuse, they simply return to their ways. It is extremely uncommon to see an actual ban occur from a complaint regarding vulgar language. And as we all know, this is one of the largest problems facing our server today. I feel creating an unbiased, standard, and fairly simple system to keep track of warnings (again, not forum, but official, from in game) will assist the staff team and the community as a whole. Any Other Information: I do not mean keep track of the [WARN] instances in game. That is a real plugin, and keeps track of itself, including number of times, and I believe kicks. I mean, when the issue is bad enough where a complaint is filed, and the complaint section is used. Link To This Plugin: N/A
With xenForo you can allow users to view warnings, but not edit/delete them. The permissions are as follows: So this could work if we grant "view warning details", but if I'm honest I can't see non-staff having access to that.
I don't care about forum warnings, as there is already a system in place for that. This suggestion is solely regarding in game warnings, sorry if I was unclear.
I do not believe I have seen this on a server that I have played on. The servers created as copies of ECC do not appear to have this feature.
We have the warn system where it comes up in global as "WARN" still, and you want that documented basically?
No, that is already documented in a way, with the number of warns showing up on all staff screens. I want forum documentation for the warnings issued after formal complaints are filed.
I'm very, very confused. So basically, when a user is warned, you want that documented in a thread basically?
Yes, when the staff do not use the in game warning system, there is currently no documentation. There should be.
The problem with that is that they would constantly need to go in and update the thread. I honestly think that they should just use the warn system, then document that, and give credit to the correct creator of that.
I don't think it would be that difficult to post a number on a thread after issuing a warning. The issue with your idea is that the warning system in game resets after server restarts, and cannot be used on offline players.
Hold on, I'm confused here... What "warnings" is it you want documented? If it was in-game warnings, staff issue a fair amount of verbal warnings to users, having all of them documented would be a pain to keep a thread updated. For example if a builder is spamming, should we document that too? I'm a little confused at the suggestion.
Then use kuke's code to have a documentation system. Give him the credit for coming up with the idea, and apply it here.
That is a plugin, not kuke's code. EDIT: I know what your talking about so please don't link it as its advertising.
The reasoning behind this suggestion is the lack of real punishments that occur. Sometimes, it takes a crazy number of complaints before the ban hammer actually comes down, I believe a recent occurrence had eleven separate complaints before the member was banned. All prior complaints were issued "warnings" which obviously did not amount to anything, as the member continued to harass and use vulgar language directed as other players.
