Minecraft Name: kevin24068 Suggestion: There should be a 1% tax when paying someone. For expample I do /pay Bob $10,000, Bob reseives $10,0000 and I also pay $100 to the server for tax. In total I would pay $10,100. Reason: It will help the economy and have a bit more realistic. Any Other Information: Link To This Plugin:
But But Butt, but wait a second, butt weight, we don't need tax. Tax money in real life is used to pay for services we really need, that is provided by the governments. But we don't have a government, and we don't need one. so therefore we don't need to pay taxes. Adding taxes just for making the economy more realistic is not worth it. In real life, some people dread paying taxes, and we might too.
if andrew decides to stop spawning in stuff and using tax money to buy stuff for spawn and stuff, then yeah +1 But this isn't that so -1.
This would cause issues with transactions. Say I agree to buy your object for 20k. I expect to pay 20k and you expect to receive 20k. Who would take the burden of the tax? Would I as the buyer need to pay more or would the seller need to expect less. This would constantly cause issues with newer players. So -1.
Taxes are just the government's way of stealing money so they can pay for their salaries and make you think they are the only ones who can provide certain services/products to you. Just because there are taxes in real life, it does not make them "realistic."
In real life, there is no tax between person - person transactions. For example: I see a/an [item] with a for sale sign on it, I go up, give cash, end of transaction.
For the exception of gifts and small amounts of trade there is a tax. In the UK we have something called VAT or Value Added Tax. Pretty much everything is taxed, the average being about 20%. This VAT is paid by the seller through the consumer. If I normally sell and apple for £1 without tax, but I am required to then pay 20% tax I would have to pay £0.20 extra. Therefore I would price it as £1 + VAT or £1.20 VAT incl. There are other taxes such as income tax, based on your annual income. Those who earn more yearly must pay more tax. And tax on property called stamp duty. The fact is that if someone wants to make it realistic then they must find a way of differentiating between gifts, small trades and large trades. You would also have the problem of regulating trade chat. In the example I give above I show how tax on most items on the UK work, and how the prices must be advertised. Either you say x amount including tax or x amount excluding tax. This could allow people to mislead each other. I am basing it on the UK and I know in many other countries what is taxed, the way it is taxed and the regulations are very different.
I know what taxes are however; I'm not talking about businesses that are taxed. I'm talking about, for example, doing a transaction with your neighbor for his DVD player (or anything else). You give him money, he gives you the DVD player, end of transaction. No tax involved. The VAT is a government tax, seeing as we do not have a government in ECC there could be no tax like that. Now if you wanted to make is so people are taxed in game. They would have to come up with a way, like in the real world, where you can apply for Sole Proprietorship, Partnership or Corporation (yes there are other such as trust, non-profit, etc. but, those do not apply here). After you apply for one of these, you would strictly have to do business with people knowing they will be taxed to you, and then you're required to pay the server every so often with the taxed money that was charged to you. If that was to take effect, you would need some way where people can see who is a business and who isn't, business people would have a lot more responsibility (paying the tax to the server, or getting banned for defaulting payments). Instead of rambling, this would never work like how it's done in the real world (regardless of where you live). People get ban, stop playing, etc. Businesses wouldn't last that long and it would be a headache for the people that Moderate and run this server. If you have a question about what I posted, forum PM me or talk to me in game.
-1 I'm sorry, but in my opinion, this isn't a server that wants to go ALL-OUT economy, I mean would you wanna pay taxes on this server? And besides, who would the money go to? If it goes to revanrose, how would that be fair to other mods? I was actually thinking the other day, why do some people want Ecocitycraft to be an All-out economy server with taxes, government, street laws, cars, police(police would be cool though , and all that stuff...
