Minecraft Name: AdmiralD Suggestion: I am suggesting the removal of the concept of "Perma" Ban from the ECC server vocabulary. This would include eliminating the town claim for "perma" banned users and just take it to 6 months as a guideline. Reason: Let us be honest - there is no such thing as a perma ban on this server. It is a game with many different personalities from many different backgrounds and as such nothing is permanent. Any Other Information: There is comfort when major trolls or scammers are "perma" banned. Since that is not ever to be the case - temp bans of 3 - 6 - 9 - 12 months would seem to make much more sense. Then the appeal process would take over again. I praise the owner and staff for doing the very best they can balancing our economy and understand how difficult it must be to determine the fine line of game versus "real life" when actual hard earned money is being spent to support the server. Link To This Plugin: There is no plugin for this.
This is not a suggestion on the punishments - only on the terminology used so that bans would have meaning as we all know that "perma" ban has absolutely no meaning at this time.
An awful lot of users have had perma bans appealed recently, so Admiral's bringing into question whether or not it's even worth having. I agree entirely to this. Perhaps give a lengthy temp ban to players before they can appeal.
As a three time perma banned player, I absolutely agree. I don't believe perma bans do any good. Everyone is capable of change, and they can grow more mature. Perma bans follow a philosophy that this can't happen, which in my opinion, is somewhat illogical.
Hmm. Actually I disagree. if a person really wants to be apart of the server again he/she can appeal to the owner. I dont see good enough reason to just give them a time stamp and call it a day. They should atone for what they have done.
The thing is, if they can appeal and get unbanned, then it is not a permaban. That's the point the op is making, they aren't even permabans so why call them that?
Yes i understand that part. However in the second part of the suggestion the user suggested just to have a time limit on the ban. This I dont agree with. The ban will be forever until appealed hence the name perma-ban. It can be called a permaban because if the user never appeals it is permanent. But i think the player should be able to appeal at any time. It's always upto the mods to let them come back.
The way that perma bans used to be was much more acceptable then it used to be. Perma bans used to be for people that were only there to troll, scam, etc. Now it seems like perma bans are reserved for people that make the owner angry. Funny thing is, I consider myself a rule-follower. I'm not super "up tight" about them but I at least put in an effort to follow the rules and that's all you really need. I have not once been regularly banned. I have been permabanned however for unknowingly making a mistake on the test server. Obviously this made andrew mad (as it should have) and he permabanned me for it. This kind of proves that perma bans are for the people that anger the owner. I'd like to see this happen: Everything is appealable no matter what. The staff members can decide who they have to appeal to however. It's not fair to anyone to be told that someone is permabanned only to see them unbanned a day later. I'd also like to point out that we should wait for a few changes before anything. I honestly don't expect a bunch of perma bans coming from our new owner but we'll just have to wait and see.
Anything can be reversed. If what you are saying is true there is no such word as permanent. All things can be changed no matter what you talking about on mine craft or the real world. I see no problem with Permaban the word. But I think there shouldn't be a time limit on when you can appeal I think you should be able to appeal whenever you want as long as the owner deems it ok to come back. Until then it is a permanent ban.
I would think that Perma banned users will only be issued on very exclusive cases from now on, in my opinion. I think the Perma ban should still exist if it is used correctly. I know you can change after you have been perma'd and turn a corner but i think as things stand, from now on if you are Perma-banned, you would have done something seriously bad to have got it, which in turn would mean no appealing. So i would vote -1, and as dumdum said, some things are still to be discussed as this is technically a transition period
@jrg5978 ok so imagine this... Kcon isnt banned yet... We cant perma ban him and bans did nothing to stop him ever, so we would have to keep him on the server if this got removed i dont think anyone especially those he scammed
