So, with all the features being taken out of our real shop, and put into a ingame shop of sorts for 15k/usd. I got that. What I don't get is the price. Everything thus far is run on supply and demand. And taking away the ability to buy from players, takes away the demand, and everything falls apart. And by falling apart, I mean a monopoly. And last time I checked, that shreks economies. The price can be set to whatever the f the person in charge feels. Why would we jack everything up to 15k/usd? Why can we not simulate the old supply and demand curve and keep them 6 or 7k/usd? With demand taken out of the equation, heck could break loose. And I think it has. 15k/usd is a ridiculous figure. I think it should change. I am well aware that nothing has happened yet, but we all know this will happen and can still be changed. If this happens, it is like nothing has changed really. Except you pay the sever and not other players. Unfortunate loss, but I think this will make a good consensus.
I think that this has some interesting, albeit flawed, points. I mean, it's working pretty well for us. Not everything with our current economy is pure supply and demand. In fact, very little actually is. Only one of the four best ways of making money is heavily affected by supply and demand. Way 1 is farming, which wouldn't be profitable at all if not for a price floor. Way 2 is mining, which again, price floor. Way 3 is SG, which I'm not sure even belongs on this list anymore, but has nothing to do with supply and demand. Way 4 is the money market (loans, gambling, etc) which is affected heavily by supply and demand as well as risk v reward. Why not? What are the long term effects of this? Again... you have nothing to back up your claims. Hell could break loose with any given change to the economy. That includes this, as well as a preemptive change to this before we have any real data.
Lets be honestly 15k was most likely picked so people would panic and stock up on features before eula and while it is an ok starting point it will hopefully end up being lowered to around 10k-12k/usd
Andrew revealed earlier today he has an idea for a booster. Upon one $14.99 purchase, features would drop from 15k/USD to 7.5k/USD for one hour. He also has plenty of good ideas for other boosters for SG, McMMO, and the like. Honestly, I think 15k is gonna be reasonable stemming from the fact that the booster andrew is proposing will probably when people buy most of their features anyway. Much like 2014, let's ride the wave and see where it puts us on the beach. If it needs an edit, so be it! Easy config fixin's.
How about giving andrew the benefit of the doubt that he might actually know what he is doing? If we would pay attention to the information he is sharing with us, we will see that with the "booster", that number now comes down to 7.5k (way to little imho). Since there are many of us that will continue to support the server, do not be surprised to see the number actually going up.
I already brought up boosters. Many many users don't have funds to buy boosters. That's why the donation market was so big. I can't buy a booster for 15-20 usd. So I would have to pay someone else, then buy the i game feature. A lot of people would end up paying the full 15k/usd.
only 1 person has to buy the booster for literally everyone to be able to use it for the coming hour.
I didn't know this. But still, what about the off-peak people or the on-peak people if it is off peak? Boosters are very unpredictable and very shaky. We don't know if people will even use them.
Or just pay the $15 themselves. It isn't a fortune. I'm curious though about the pooling aspect. You've mentioned it a lot - do you have a way to encourage pooling, or just feel as though users will probably do it often? A pooling system would be really cool if possible.
How are we going to enforce pooling for it? A person can say, "lets pool together so I can buy this!" Then a few minutes later, "thanks for the donations" and buy themselves a feature. Alright. I won't doubt you. I just ask this is kept in mind if it doesn't pan out the way you wanted. Also thank you for the reply
