Minecraft Name: Rilene Suggestion: Raise price of melon slices at least to $0.25 each. Reason: This suggestion was mainly to make melon farming a good crop for builder, more information can be read below. Or at least make the price more proportional, currently it is 1:20 from slices to block, maybe make it 1:8? Also acts as another choice of farming, as a builder, you have no best choice aside from cocoa bean farming, more effort needed but more money and melon farming would be quite opposite, while generating reasonable income. TEXT WALL WARNING Spoiler: Reason Q. But there are already various ways to earn money for builders. A. Sure that there are wheat farming and similar crops, survival games, mining, cutting trees and cocoa bean farming but keep in mind that most of these aren't profitable for builders (aka new players). Wheat farming will never be profitable unless if you have features and high-end herbalism levels, survival games requires good PvP skill which is not a thing that every players own, mining requires some fairly good pickaxes investment which is fairly high for builder, cutting trees will never be profitable for builders who have woodcutting skill under 50 and cocoa bean may be the best method of farming but it is just one of them, we need a crop which is going to be profitable for builders. Currently, the profitable way of earning money for builder is very limited. Q. But isn't Silk Sword suggestion denied? A. Yeah, it is denied but still we can have a alternative which is lot more cheaper, raising the price of melon slices in order to make the melon slices (not blocks) profitable, at least 150% increase would do. Q. How can this be a good farming method for builder? A. This farming method will simply require a extremely cheap investment which is just a single diamond sword, lasting around 750 hits to melon blocks and all it needs is a price buff for melon slices farming to be profitable. Q. How much can this earn if it is buffed to $0.25 per melon slices? A. This farming method can earn averagely $3,500 (can be up 40% more or less depending on drops) per hour however it can be more or less due to melon drop those slices from 3 to 7. Price Information, credits to 314. Q. But I thought this farming was meant for elite farmers. A. This can be both elite farmers and apprentice farmers, elite farmers earn at least $12,000 per hour and apprentice farmers earn at least $3,500. Q. How much can this earn if it is buffed to $0.25 per melon slices? A. This farming method can earn averagely $3,500 per hour however it can be more or less due to melon drop those slices from 3 to 7. Q. Why do we need it when we can earn more than $3,500 per hour? A. This price buff was meant for builders who usually find it hard to earn decent income and soon once they got some balance, they can either move to better method of farming, this was meant to be for a first stepping stone to earn money. Q. But a melon slice costs like over half price of a whole pumpkin block. A. Keep in mind that you broke melon blocks lot slower than you do break pumpkin break with Efficiency 5 plus melon slices drop varies from 3 to 7. Q. I calculated $0.25 multiply by 9, 9 melon slices costs $2.25 and melon block costs $2, this does not seem right. A. There is going to be some sort of psychological wall. The one who own a proper melon sword will never plan to break melon blocks to melon slices due to the effort required plus that a melon drops around 3 to 7 slices and the one who own a normal diamond sword will never plan to craft melon slices to melon block due to that they will lose $0.25 per blocks. Note: This farming method is always available to builders but it just need the price buff for it to be viable. Soon, over time, once the player reaches resident, they will stop do melon slices farming and move to other method of earning money like mining with maxed pickaxe or pumpkin farming with maxed axe. This can be very useful addition for builder towns, which supports new players. Any Other Information: All written in the spoiler above. Link To This Plugin/Is this a custom addition?: None at all. ------------------ Any new questions will be added to the spoilers.
$3,500 an hour is pretty bad, even for builders. Cocoa makes much more requiring simply a diamond axe. What's the benefit of this over cocoa?
That's a poor precedent to change things. We could change an infinite number of things for months because "it's not hurting anyone" but all that does is waste the time of the people changing it.
But how long does it take to change the melon slice price. They are a little underpriced so why not give them a little buff.
because melons are $2, the drop amount of melonslices is 3-10 (so it would average out at 6-7). $.25 is 1.8th of $2. Changing it to $.25 sounds reasonable. Not for any other reason than the fact that it should be that price in relation to the melonblock price.
"Diamond Block" price is $225 each, "Diamond" price is 25$, they are in 1:9 ratio, same applies with "Iron Ingot" and "Iron Blocks" or "Wheat" and "Hay Bales" also with other some type of condensable items, though doesn't fully apply to gold-type items. "Pumpkin" price is $0.4 each and "Pumpkin Seed" is $0.1 each, they are in 1:4 ratio. Meanwhile "Melon Block" price is $2 and "Melon Slice" or "Melon Seed" is $0.1 each, they are like in 1:20 ratio when the block actually yields 3-7 (according to the wiki) slice each, doesn't it seem out of proportion? I do know that Melon Slices can't fully be proportional to Melon Blocks due to each yielding 3 to 7 slices but at least... Adjust the price so that it can be bit more proportional in a closer range? Still this suggestion was meant to be a poor's crop as well as rich's crop, at least a alternative farming choice for builders. Or at least for the sake of proportionality.
*bump* Current price ratio is 1:20 from slices to block, raising price of melon slices to $0.25 each would make the price ratio at 1:8 which seems closer to the range and about farming melon slices, it can earn $3500 averagely plus that it can be 40% higher/lower due to the varying drops, sure that cocoa bean farming does earn more but also needs more effort where else melon (or pumpkin but that isn't related to suggestion) requires relatively low effort plus quite easy to do with a reasonable income rate. Well, if this gets denied again so that probably summarize melon farming is meant to be for high tiers...
I know but well, this suggestion is more for a price relevancy from melon slices to block as well as make melon farming fairly viable to new players with a relatively low effort, has nothing to do with silk touching melon blocks anymore.
