Minecraft Name: @obblebobble Suggestion: To add a /ch rant Reason: People always swear and go on about nonsense in global. Why not create a (near pointless) channel to resolve this issue. It's so stupid that it may actually work. This is not a troll suggestion, although seemingly so, I'm 100% serious. Basically you may rant about whatever you wish in the rant channel without any serious rules (No special characters, and no excessive spamming). Because it'll still come up in the logs. But other people cannot see the messages, only yourself. Almost like a whisper to yourself... Not sure if it's easily possible. Any Other Information: May not be possible. Link To This Plugin/Is this a custom addition?: HeroChat, already using. I'm sure they are other alternatives too.
What rules would be in this channel? Use of swearing? Politics? Drugs? etc, as some of those topics could be inside your 'rant' Could be a way of stopping swearing and people raging in global for sure, not sure how everything would work or be implemented for it though, or how it would be moderated
Rules state: Clause 3 - Inappropriate/Touchy Subjects and Discussions EcoCityCraft is a server community consisting of many age groups, religious groups, and political backgrounds. As such, there are many touchy subjects that we do not allow in our public channels in order to keep the peace and prevent arguments and flame wars from occurring. All chat must be kept appropriate and clean at all times. There is to be no discussion of anything deemed inappropriate for a workplace, including, but not limited to, sexuality, excessive violence, alcohol/drugs and inappropriate or dark humor. This rule extends into subjects about illegal substances or actions, including drugs. Politics, religion and suicide are common “touchy subjects”, however they are not the only ones. Should a staff member ask you to change a subject they feel is touchy and/or is causing the direction of chat to deviate towards an argument or flame war, you must drop the subject immediately. Discussing a banned user's ban reason and why they were banned is not allowed, however simply mentioning a banned player's username is allowed. Accusing other players of breaking any of the Server Rules is not allowed. Use the proper means to address these concerns such as speaking to a staff member or filing a complaint. Sounds hypocritical to me.
It wouldn't need to be entirely moderated. Nobody sees it, swearing, caps, politics, w.e I'm assuming could/would be allowed simply due to the fact that they are the only ones that read it. If they're saying it, surely they are able to read it without being offended by their own words If we had it visible to the public, then issues arise.
In a sense, it's not a public chat channel. It's a private chat submission within a publicly available chat system.
I mean, if you want to talk about these issues use party chat. All I can see coming from this channel is lines like this: Player A: F*** B**** S*** Player B: DONALD TRUMP FOR PRESIDENT 2016 Player C: STAFF IS SO F***ING DUMB Player D: hook me up with some drugs bro Literally nonsensical chat like that. If you want to chat without moderation, create a party and do it there. No need to create a whole new chat where a ton of junk will be spammed.
If nobody can read those comments, it seems pointless. Much better talking to yourself or to a wall than wasting your time doing that. You fail to understand that people troll for a reaction - Why troll with no reaction in /ch rant when you can get full reaction in /ch global?
-1, people troll and rant for the reaction they get. A channel for this won't make them stop. A better idea would be to stop letting people troll in global for an hour strait before making them stop.
