Personally, when I rate giveaways like that once the giveaway is over I unrate it. But yes, I suppose most people don't.

 

Wait hang on. Explain to me exactly. How are trophy points more valuable then ratings? How are trophy points any different then ratings?

 

I don't care about my trophy points, but I do care somewhat about my ratings. :p The fact that some people will "pay" to have more ratings which then leads to more points is beyond me.

As you stated above, this was unintentional. The reason for my choice was to be able to put usernames into a randomizer easier, which it was. All I had to do was open the list, then copy and paste usernames. Had I asked users to enter by replying to the thread, the thread would've blown up and it would've been a lot harder to put usernames in that way. Plus it's much easier to rate than to reply. So I stand by my choice.

However, I totally see your point now that trophies have come into place. Ratings are of value and I completely get that. 42+ ratings was ridiculous I'm not gonna lie haha. That being said, if anyone who entered my giveaway that is now over would like to undo their rating, I would entirely agree with that and even urge you to. Seeing that other users rightfully earn their ratings, I wouldn't want to be another user getting the trophies the easy way.

I do agree with dork1877 though in that I doubt anything will be done about it unless something new is implemented... which isn't likely.

I dont exactly know what all these medals are but I am upset that this is a main topic of discussion. there are real problems and as people of ECC we only focus on GAIN GAIN GAIN. One of these problems is the ever inflaating economy. Or maybe just the absolute mayhem with NStar inflation. Or maybe even the biggest, the people who scam other people that dont take the proper screenshots, or state the right things. If someone is willing to give away 10k of their own ECC money, in exchange for these ratings then its a legal thing. If someone wants to pay $15 of their real money for like 90k ECC money selling features we think thats perfectly fine. What does that do? That gives donation features to the people who didnt donate a cent. from experience, 10k dosent come too easy, Unless you win the Lottery. In my experience it can take about an hour to make 10k. This is some serious time. And if by chance you own a spawnshop then great for you. you log off and the community pays you. I agree that it is somewhat cheating to get these medals, but personally I dont look at the little +100 on the peoples descriptions, I look at the big tag or maybe the rank or maybe the fact that they are VERY knowledgeable on the subject. These ratings are just another distraction from some bigger problems in ECC.

Not many people look at ratings.

Not many people have 10k to give out like candy.

Not many people rate the best posts.

This is my 2 cents. Plz read this with an open mind and think about it thouroughly.

Because what they are doing is wrong.

 

With some people, they frequent the forums. Getting ratings just have people agree, or think something you had was funny. People who buy ratings don't have good quality of anything. They don't earn them like others.
