Honestly, I like the potato rating. Everything doesn't need to serve a purpose, it's just a bit of fun. And you could argue that it does server a purpose. More people may actually use the other ratings for their proper purpose if they can give a more jokey/trolly potato rating.
And one can also argue the optimistic rating does the same as well, since that's the new "troll" rating.
There's always going to be a troll rating.. I have a lot of friendly ratings from appeals, when my posts were anything but friendly!
I understand that, however, the optimistic rating I feel is just a filler to get rid of the funny rating. So why allow the "potato" rating to allow for trolling, yet not have the funny rating?
Then the suggestion should be to just get the funny rating back. Not removing potato and optimistic as well.

It does serve a purpose. It's exactly as Dewsy said. A rating like this is a positive influence and reduces the amount of sarcastic ratings. Sure, it doesn't stop it completely, but it reduces it drastically. And I'm talking from experience. I used to be active in a different community where a similar system was put in place. (except there it was "troll" instead of "potato")
Well, I like rating stupid people's ban appeals optomistic because they are actually thinking they will get unbanned.
So was I, and I also like the concept of that. Jakey came up with the idea, and I think that should be replaced, you know why? That rating didn't affect someone's rating count. Now, I have not been active all that often, however, I didn't see much complaining over it, but please, correct me if I am wrong. However, I think it wouldn't be a bad idea to add it and have it replace the "Potato" rating. Great, you can make it "funny" now.
