I am simply saying a "Near monopoly" is actually a oligopoly.

You just said an oligopoly was where one group controlled an entire market. (Which it's not, an oligopoly has multiple people.) You seem to be making up what these terms mean as we move on... :/

Okay, I may have wrote it poorly, but I was trying to say that an oligopoly had multiple people and a monopoly had only 1 (major) person. Sorry for the confusion.

Yes, and he said a group of people would have a monopoly on the market, which more or less means the same thing.

I was just trying to state the correct term.

Edit: (sorry for got to add this) It would actually only be a monopoly if they all sold it together.

Uhm, could we just stop discussing about words and definitions? I think the idea Nicit6 was expressing is clear enough. And I do agree with what he said, btw.

Theres never a truly equal market in any sense, only the desire to want more, which in turns makes people rich

Yes, but cutting the supply of EXP would just pretty much center an extreme concentration of EXP in the hands of very few.

I have more than 100k orbs in exp, so I'm among those who would gain a lot if exp production was nerfed, and I say -again- let's NOT do this!

A quick question...fishing keeps coming up as a major source of XP. I have great doubts of that being the case. Mostly because I have huge doubts that people fish regularly. Mining is far and away a greater source of XP. Could we please not mention fishing unless we have proof?

Also: yaasss, add more ways of spending XP. I haven't spent any in months because I already have my set of tools and e-reps (and barring the random accidental break, everyone else can access those things too). XP is a limited use currency, because enchanted tools are kind of like a ladle. You'll never (or almost never) buy more than one. Therefore the total amount of XP needed by the entire server is number_players * number_tools. That's like maybe 1000 total tools. And while that's like 15 million XP or so, that's nothing compared to the time the server has been around (and number of tools in circulation). So XP is essentially useless, barring a constant massive influx of new players needing tools. Even if we were to nerf new XP production, it would always eventually not be enough.

TL;DR: I'm with @Nicit6, lets brainstorm other ways to spend XP.

Although an exp lotto would be fun, I would go for buying blocks (like rare ones, prismarine, ...) and turning it into mcmmo xp. Anyway post your ideas!

I think that exp from ores should be reduced greatly.
Exp from fishing should be decreased slightly.
Exp from spawners should remain unchanged.
With the greatest provider of Exp being spawners, this can be player regulated. It would give players the opportunity to hunt other players farming mobs. They can also decide to farm mobs themselves or destroy the spawners.
Of course a new way to spend exp will need to be added to make a dent in the mass amounts already on the sever. I like the idea of buying blocks, or some cool tools with exp. Something certainly must be done to make exp prices go up in my opinion.
