Do you understand how much ore it would take to make much of a profit at all off of the fortune pick? placing the blocks later and mining them with a different fort 3 pick would only matter if you had mined a full inventory of only ores that can be fortuned, theres only 4 by the way, 2 being very rare, one being not very common and not worth a whole lot, and one thats common but not worth much. this 2k profit would be made in a month, not in a single expedition. even if people use it correctly to get a 2k profit which i doubt most would.

I didn't even mention the smelting ability in Mcmmo, because this too, affects income. It affects it a lot even. I have a 44% chance of smelting iron/gold on breaking with a non-silk pick. Meaning you spend less time smelting iron and gold, and make more money.
Fortune is too OP for an eff7. -

My calculations show that Fortune3 would make 3500/hour more than Silk for Eff7 pickaxes.
I took my data on $$/hour with eff7, subtracted the stone/cobblestone difference, subtracted the time spent fortuning ores (I record mining time and fortuning time separately) and added a little bit of time because with fort3 you'll have to use the /sell command more often.
Fortune3 is signifcantly better than Silk Touch. -

i need to see a legit test done on this, because i dont see how your numbers can add up to that at all. it needs to be tested with, and without fly in the mining world, over a 2 hour period of time with each picks, you can come up with theoretical numbers because thats all these are.

i am expert miner.
The amount of stone/cobble per hour is known. The amount of time spent fortuning ores is known.
therefore, i know exactly what my $$/hour would be with fortune3 instead. Berserk_on_xbl -

anybody that plays MINEcraft can say that xD i would rather see actual numbers than ones that have a very high chance of being inaccurate.

actually mining is something you get better at with time and practice. you would know this if you were expert too -

I don't see how that's not a legit test. I've done numerous tests with eff7, and I purposefully kept hard profit out of my equation, as it's just a comparison in time you save. If I can make 20k every 75 minutes with an eff7 st1, then I would be able to make more than 22k every 60 minutes with a eff7 fort3 because of the time I save by not having to smelt-, or place and fortune the ores later. (At least 2k extra by just not having to place and fortune, or smelt the ores afterwards)
Although in reality, the gains from eff7 are a little bit lower, but it's AT LEAST a 10% gain in profit. I'd say that's a pretty big difference. -

i dont see how you can give these numbers without trying an fortune pick, and i dont think you can save 15 minutes every hour just on the coal, redstone, lapiz, diamond, and rare emerald. because in an hour, you dont mine that much of any of those ores. -

This is why I taalk about being good at mining, it has a direct impact on this discussion. If you aren't getting very many ores, your numbers don't matter because we base things off of the most efficient methods possible. -

I'm sorry to say this but I would love to see you make a video of you producing these numbers, I don't find this possible at all.

And I don't need to try a fortune pick to know how it'll affect anything. You mine the same way as with the current eff7 pick, except you don't need to place, break and smelt as much as before. Which is at least 10% gain in profit, like I stated earlier. It's all about how much time you save. Time is money, and therefore by doing the same work in 90% of the time you gain 10% more in the same time.
Like I stated earlier, I've done actual testing on this. Why do you think andrew nerfs/raises prices of things? It's not because he tests it all himself. -

Let me explain why this is a bad idea. In the average eff7 mining process you go mining and you get a bunch of ores. Sadly the eff7 is silk touch so you can not sell the ores on the spot and you have to go all the way back to your house to smelt them. Most users that use eff7s for this will have cooking pots to speed up the process. This plays a big role in the cooking pot's market and without it cooking pots would be in a lower demand. Now if this was fortune 3 you WOULD be able to sell it on the spot saving yourself a lot of time and will enable you to mine without stop excluding iron and gold which takes quite a while to fill your inventory. Also if you had a high smelting mcmmo level many of your ores such as gold and iron would be auto-smelted allowing you to make your mining trip even longer before heading back. I have not done any testing but I am doing a guess that the trip back and then getting back to your mine at it's full efficiency would take maybe 1/4 of your time mining (note I am just guessing that number is likely way over what it is). If this is true then the money you would be making would be about 125% from what it was before. I do think that the pickax was made silk touch for a reason. To back this up when cooking pots were made slower I think that was also a effort to slow down that trip you have to make to smelt your ores. Now if you look at the bigger picture with 25% more inflation coming from eff7 mining ore prices would go down a lot. With ore prices down you are making everyone suffer. After this to destroy cooking pot's market even more people would make more money until the issue is fixed possibly having the person use that money on donations. One of those donations could contain ext creations increasing the supply of cooking pots. As a ending point the cooking pot market would be destroyed, and ores would be worth less. Now that folks is why you have my -1
