No. Skype is messy, hard to moderate and will lead to all sorts of problems. I seriously doubt people will want to be part of a large group anyway as it generally is spammy and lags their Skype client, among other things. I could also see drama in that Skype group carrying over to the actual server, which will lead to more problems in chat. Players can have their own little ECC chat groups, however having the server itself host one is unfeasible and will lead to problems.

 

It takes one person to add 400 people to a chat to ruin it forever.

 

There's Peer2Peer (moderated) chats which can prevent that though by controlling who gets added to the chat. It's still unfeasible however for the reasons I've explained above.

 

Peer2peer chats lag and break when there are a lot of people in it. They're not meant for a large amount of users. Not to mention the fact that peer2peer means everyone's IPs are exposed to each other.

 

That's the only way to effectively have an official ECC Skype group. You literally cannot have an official ECC skype group that's effectively run by the server that's not P2P. Yeah, there's a host of other issues with these chats, but that besides the point - The point is, your argument is invalid as that wouldn't happen, assuming the server uses a P2P chat, which it probably would to effectively administer/moderate.

No, I was part of a community run one and it was horrible to use, also I still get messages from it and I can't block it.

 

Screw that. Skype is the easiest way to get ddossed and then having 300 ppl in one chat. Ha ya no thanks. Just stick to Teamspeak..if ECC has one.
