Minecraft Name: Grande_Sucio Suggestion: I'm suggesting removing the possibility of instant crop grow-back for mainly pumpkins and melons to ease in high speed farming or at least delay the grow back as to limit the amount of time spent stopping and restarting. My main concern is for pumpkins and melons. I'm not sure it would affect other crops as much. Reason: When farming pumpkins or melons mainly using speed or even without speed, you will inevitably run into nuisance pumpkins or melons that grow back instantly which completely stops your farming momentum. Other Information: On mcmmo's wiki it explains the chances of instant growth according to your herbalism level. If there was a way to delay it 10 seconds per say it would give the user ample time to get through that area of the farm without losing momentum and having to stop and restart. It would also allow those who donate for speed/fly to make it through without any hitches. Link to this plugin: http://dev.bukkit.org/bukkit-plugins/mcmmo/
The instant growth described by McMMO has only affected seed crops, like carrots, wheat, potatoes, netherwart... so far as I have seen, and I have a 600+ Herbalism level.
I just re-read that section of the page and you are right. I'm not sure how to address this then. If anyone knows how growth rates work in regular minecraft please chime in.
My experience is that the pumpkins/melons jumps back into place because of lag, just like when you are mining.
I'm pretty sure that he is suggesting that pumpkins/melons take a minimum of 10 seconds to regrow to make farming easier/faster, not raise farming prices. Anyways, I don't think that they are instantly "regrowing". It is probably just a ghost block.
No there are points at which both the server and client recognize that the block is broken but the pumpkin/melon regrows back almost instantly. Otherwise you would have to assume that every one of those pumpkins/melons that come back right away are ghost blocks which would mean the server itself lags a lot. I believe the server lags somewhat and that causes some of the pump/melons to come back but there also have to be a few that grow back on their own. If this could be delayed it would help a little more.
The regrowth is a rare occasion, but that's not something we can change. The ghost blocks are generally just lag, the client thinks they block got destroyed, but the server doesn't. So when you try to move through the block then the server pulls you back because it's not possible to move through blocks. A solution to all this is simply farming sideways, no problems with ghost blocks or blocks that regrow instantly.
You just aim at an angle and don't touch the mouse.. Although it can be tricky if there's no blocks next to the stems My farming setup looks like this: #^||^# # being glowstone, ^ being a stem and || being where the pumpkins grow
^^ Haha yea he kinda came off condescending which just isn't needed here. A suggestion is just a suggestion, nothing is set in stone. If you don't have anything positive to put forth then don't say anything at all.
