Allow players to "+1" and "-1" staff applications again. All I see is just staff unnecessarily warning players over a small thing - staff could be doing better things that.

Those who argue that it's a way to get serious input must remember that when you ban "+1" they'll just go around saying "+1 nice user" and things like that - Is that input more helpful? No, it's not that much, really. Players "+1" staff applications for a reason, and you can assume that they're "nice" or "mature" users or whatever. If a player actually has serious, valid, relevant, and elaborate input to provide, they'll post it regardless of the rules.

It just seems like an unnecessary rule to me.

 

I could make an argument like that on the suggestions forum. Should we ban "+1" and "-1"? No, absolutely not. As I've said, players don't and won't consistently enforce their opinion either way, even when required to, via my examples stated above. Players only support their opinion with elaborate input when they want to.

I don't see how this necessary at all. It just adds extra work for staff.

 

More actual feedback? It seems the same to me. If players really want to provide actual feedback, they will. All this just does is give staff more work (Even if it might be a little, it's still work, lol.). Anyway, many players just want to voice their support/opinion. Even with the rules, they can just say "+1 user fit for staff" - Literally no different than "+1".

These rules are ineffective and not needed.

 

How do we exactly enforce a "little bit more then" then? What you're just suggesting is an arbitrary system that will lead to complaints a bit "BS deletions" and such. I think we should get rid the rules as a whole regarding +1/-1 responses to staff applications.

You can argue the same with suggestions too. Should +1/-1 not be allowed as well? No, because I should be able to voice my opinion simply stating my approval or disapproval. We'll just have players saying "+1 great suggestion" also instead, extremely ineffective like the current staff app rule regarding this things. Also, what if I have negative feedback to a suggestion or a app? There isn't a dislike or disagree rating....

 

Why? Saying "no" without a rebuttal to the opposing point isn't the best way to go about posting on suggestions... .-.

 

You know, you can ask someone to explain why, but why should they be forced to? I get the point that you want elaborate input on staff applications, but it seems more like a personal choice - If players want to provide elaborate input, go ahead. But I don't see why you should be forced to provide elaborate input - it's just more of a hassle for players and it wastes staff's time enforcing this. Not to mention, said by former staff members in this thread, feedback has little influence on staff picks either way. Staff already know about the user, it's a matter of time whether they picked or not.

Then what constitutes as serious feedback? What we're heading toward is an arbitrary system where players complain about inconsistent deltions, causing more problems than it solves.

But, I do have something to say - I just want to voice my support. Sure, I can use ratings, but creative is for well.. creative posts, and potato is meant as a troll rating - there's no dislike rating, lol.
