+1 I like the idea of honoring the players who have dedicated so much time, effort, and money to the server this is a perfect way to do that. Just a small token of thanks to these select few players who helps make ecc the best server in minecraft.
This is a great idea! Maybe something like a sheriff star and when they retire just put the big red bar on it
-1 Many previous Staff members were not necessarily... "honorable," and others did not spend much time on Staff and/or have a chance to put time into it. If anything, maybe a medal/badge for those who were SuperMod+ that did not leave on bad terms... However, it would be very difficult to track that (we've had over 160 total different Staff members - they are not all logged).
I feel like some people would apply for staff/get staff SPECIFICALLY to get the medal, and not to better the community.
Just cause they apply though doesn't automatically mean they get picked. Andrew picks mature people who have benefitted the community and he can trust them. Also, he could always just fire them and take away the medal if he feels that they don't benefit at all. And as Moofin said, which I somewhat agree with, it could be given to staff who have reached SuperMod.
As MoofinK stated, not all staff members are necessarily "honorable". Despite the fact that there are many, many honorable staff members, I feel that it shouldn't be implemented. Also, some users would go for staff especially for this medal.
Current staff members don't need a medal, we get a little banner. As for former staff, I feel like it would only encourage flaming and things like "Why didn't so-and-so get the medal?".
So you don't think there are people who apply for staff that SPECIFICALLY want to have the power/commands/respect/popularity that comes with being a staff member? You're always going to have people applying who have motives other than bettering the server, with or without a medal.
Once again Andrew picks people he trusts he could easily take away the medal and demote them. Basically you're saying he picks everyone who applies.
thats not what im saying at all im saying that there would be people that will become staff for the reward. they will app and he wont know there intentions.
