Minecraft Name: Dodos1 Suggestion: Add the Toronto Stock Exchange or TSX to the stock market Reason: I live in Toronto, Canada and I am sure others do too, and I look at the Toronto Stock Exchange as well as the NASDAQ and the Dow Jones as well, so I feel as though the TSX should be added because it has just as much of a right to be there Any Other Information: Nope, just that it would be easier for me to research stocks and such that are in my area Link To This Plugin: Stock Market
Because the server stock market closes and opens at the same time as the US Stock Exchanges. If we were to add another stock exchange, that has a different time zone and trading time, that'd allow players to abuse the fact that you can trade AU stocks while the AU Stock Exchange is closed.
The whole reason we need another stock exchange is because due to time zones, some of us are completely unable to buy/sell. Another stock market would have its own opening/closing time.
You obviously don't understand. The ASX stock exchange if added would open and close as it does in the real world. Allowing Australian players to buy stocks during the day and not have to get up during super early to actually buy them.
Well, TSX is easier because it's in the same time zone (American Eastern Time). With ASX you have to implement a secondary open/close that allows for auto-opening and closing of ASX while opening and closing the U.S. Markets. If that didn't make sense: It's harder than you think. However, this "abuse" that @UnitedStates2002 is talking about is completely different from the suggestion (that's American IPOs having issues with our open/close, and has no impact on other exchanges whatsoever). But, a request to the developer could be made to have multiple time zones. Just be aware that if this is accepted, it will take some time to code and add. TSX would be the only logical one to add and could be done easiest.
Well, the "abuse" I was talking about is that you can hear good news about AU stocks, and buy that stock while the exchange is closed.
Nono, they would run competely independent of each other. When the United States/Canada markets are open, you can buy American and Canadian stocks, but it would prohibit you from buying ASX stocks. When the ASX/Nikkei (which I would assume would be added if it works as they open in the same timezone) opens, you can buy Austrailian stocks and Chinese exchange stocks, but not American/Canadian stocks. Basically, because the hours are messed up, it would require two openings and closings. This implies the trader would need a custom add-on from the developer to do so. It's hard to expain, but I think I see your spot now.
It is not adding the ASX share market that will be hard but the fact of having two share markets with different open/close times.
Yes, but like you said, we would need a custom add-on from the dev to do this, which would take time and is hard then most people think.
Well, aside from all this side talk about the ASX as well, I still believe that the TSX should be added
Well, with the new stock market times, I now only have access between 2am and 6am when I'm almost certainly asleep
