Sadly I don't think its possible to remove money from the lottery or stop them from just buying more tickets. I don't think you can remove people from lotto either, unless they're banned they can buy tickets. Although maybe people should be warned more.

Edit: Just remembered, although its *possible* to revoke permissons to the lotto commands, it would be time consuming and only Andrew would be able to do it, and thusly wouldn't be worth it to him. Also, I believe its been suggested before and it hasn't happened yet so...

 

What WOULD be funny, is if when they fake those messages, it goes through and actually deducts the money without purchasing the tickets. A few people complaining about that should scare the rest off rather quickly. :rolleyes:

It might require a command be put in place to have "./lot buy ##" = some kind of $$ deduction with no benefits.

I'm sure it is not feasible since people do use the command for telling others how to buy tickets. And players would just try to find a way around it anyway.

But I agree with the sentiment that many people aren't taking the "don't fake server messages" rule seriously.

I think the problem is messages that look more like this:
[G] [President][VIP][Voyager] nicit6: just bought 1000 tickets!

I think the punishments are fine. When this happens, it usually isn't that big of a deal and no harm is done. There are many more rule-breakings that need harsher punishments.

 

If this was to happen, I'd purposely get myself banned from lotto, it would be a dream come true.

 

Well, I can't say I agree. I do agree that the staff aren't always respected, but neither are the police. The rules aren't always read, but neither are the laws in real life. Just as with real life though, you don't have to know its wrong to be punished for it. Frankly, the lotto messages are the least of my worries as a staff member. They are rare. They are silly/stupid/pointless. People do them to confuse other players and often times, no harm no foul. I don't think adding a auto temp banner/muter in would be a good solution.


I don't really happen to be a fan of anything that auto does punishes. We have staff for a reason, to make the decisions about punishment and handle the server so that it moves smoothly. In that lies a chance for letting something slide or, knowing all facts, acknowledging something shouldn't be punished. ANY automatic system does not allow for this. There are many a time when I do believe we might want to consider being a little harsher. That being said, there are many a time I think we should be more lenient. Yet, in my past year on ECC as a Staff member, I have determined that we handle things pretty well.

If a player is truly disrespecting staff, they will be punished. Its okay to be curious unless it becomes a question of authority/attempted at causing dissent/etc. Anyways, my point being, personally, I don't feel this part of our system needs reformation. Maybe I'm wrong, but just tossing my opinion out.
