Minecraft Name: SimsElemental Suggestion: Town Name changes option. Reason: Well, my reason for this is that In the future I would personally like to make a nation, a themed nation, yet I didn't think about this before naming my town 'SimsCity'. I believe that giving users this option to apply and pay a certain amount of money for a town name change, almost like you would with a username change, would give people a bit of freedom to change their mind. I think that you should only be able to apply for a town name change once per town, so to let other players like aspiring mayors and mayors+ getting a fresh town have more choice in their name. My suggested price for this is maybe 40k, I don't know wether this is too much or too little, I'm not sure what other players would think of this so it's out in the open. I'm sure it isn't just me who regrets the name I chose for my town, and I have been thinking about this for a while, and I decided I'd like to voice it to everyone Any Other Information: N/A Link To This Plugin/Is this a custom addition?: N/A I'm not sure if one is needed for this
+1 I have a town named anime and its medieval style and I don't even watch/know anime in real that well XD
I like this idea, but I think it should maybe be like 25k/30k to get it changed as it is only a small thing you are changing (so it shouldn't be as expensive as getting a portal or anything) But I would like to be able to do this as I didn't think of a theme for my nation before I named my towns, and I would quite like to change some of the names. +1
It may seem like a small thing however the process is far more work intensive than creating a portal. We have to ensure rules are followed regarding members, delete and recreate the region, ensure and/or fix any already existing town features to match the new name. It would probably be the most work intensive application offered.
It also leads to issues regarding existing contracts/agreements that people have regarding a town. Sure, there are possible work-arounds, but when I was thinking about this a few months ago, I couldn't come up with an efficient method of tracking name changes which (in my mind) would adequately protect players from being scammed and/or prevent confusion.
Those two posts basically summed up everything I usually criticise about suggestions of this kind. ._.
This would be a great thing to have, yes. But this has been suggested multiple times before, and if I recall correctly, it would cause a great deal of problems with portals and warps, and other things concerning the towns. Well, I HAD a post to basically say why this couldn't happen but it seems Nicit and Dewsy beat me
*I don't know how to quote you both nicet6, dewsy92 and 314* Well I'm glad that you have both said this as I hadn't even thought of the details like warps and portals before this, and now it seems so obvious xD Does that mean applications (if it were made) would be made like ones of a mayor or president town application? Im guessing you'd have to re-zone and re own as well as re add the members. I now see the problem, yet if there were some way possible to jump around all these hassles, that would be great. But by the looks I'm not sure it'd be possible :/ Thanks for the replies guys
-1 unless it costs $1,000,000. It is too labor intensive to be feasible - especially when someone owns a town with many many applications.
I digress on that price, I'd say it should be 100,000,000 ecd + 100 usd, and 100,000 ecd should go to the staff member whom did the work.
-1 wont happen it requires way to much work the only way to change name to my knowledge is to re make the region.
Well, (to my knowledge) not true. All info is stored as data, or all computers case, code (binary, but I am going to call it code for this.), the regions name is info, so it is stored as data or code, one could change the code, that would change the data, and that may change the name. but that would take alot of work, + all the extras of the town and idk how everything works so residents may no longer have perms. + if someone agrees to town rules, they would need to re-agree to the rules under the new name.
It's a shame the process is so complex it would have been a really cool thing to have as many people doesn't really think enough when deciding their town's name :/
That is why I am doing what I am now, I don't know what I want to name my town or do with it, so for now, I am staying resident, more people should do the same imo. Edit, or let others buy them mayor for their town.
For reasons I as well as others have stated this will not be happening in the foreseeable future. For now we will focus on implementing and implementing well current changes (portals to warps, etc)
