Right now, players have to option apply for a username change. In order to do this, players have to specifically make an application for it. This can sometimes lead to confusion and more work for GAs. Therefore, I am proposing to add an xenforo plugin that automatically changes your username based on your UUID. On your profile settings, you will find an option that allows you to change your username - Click it, and the username will automatically change for you. No GA work, no applications, no nothing. Just a simple click and your username is changed. Here's the link to the plugin: https://xenforo.com/community/resources/minecraft-uuid-name-change-handler.2924/updates
What if the name is not approved by staff? (Say it's rude or something). Even if it's more work, I like the current process
Regarding the problem that @Nicit6 brought up - what would happen to accounts created to post ban appeals that aren't deleted yet? I know that @iStomp__Kittens plans to become @iStomp_Kittens (his original name), but that account still exists. Would it be flat out deleted?
As per my post here: This means that iStomp_Kittens would get renamed LegendMegcool: And iStomp__Kittens name change to iStomp_Kittens would proceed, as normal.
But iStomp_Kittens is not the actual LegendMegool, it is an account created solely for a ban appeal that was never deleted for some reason. Edit: I guess the rules would still apply.
In that case I just feel that the appealing account should have been deleted. I've already tagged Nicit, so we'll see what he thinks. But cases like these could present problems with this suggestion, even though I would love to see it implemented.
If there's any apparent problems with that, the said player is always welcome to forum PM the Admin team to get everything sorted and have their name change go through.
