If nether stars are a bad idea, we don't need to settle on that. Any other item that has decent value could be used instead.
But also think of this: netherstars are already SUPER rare, should we add more to the market, and add more to the economy?

It's a good idea to add more to the economy, especially with the EULA being enforced, I believe Any other item that has good value could be used. I.E. Spawn Eggs, Or even crate keys if we decide to add crates
We don't need crates, that's why we have stars. Okay, but how many votes does the server receive per day? If vote parties are added, how much more stars will be added?
A "vote party" like the one described in this suggestion won't really encourage people to vote more than they do already - A "collectivized incentive" will just create a free rider problem as people will be stuck with a mentality that they can reap the gains without voting/contributing because they think other people will vote/contribute for them instead. If we really want to incentive voting, we should be going towards "personalized incentives" which actually require you to contribute to get a reward of have a chance of getting a reward. My idea is to have a voting giveaway where each vote will get a chance in a giveaway drawing - That will incentive voting for those who wish to win the giveaway, which you'd find a lot of people who would, depending on the prizes.
I'm sure theres a voting plugin that does that. Once you reach X amount of votes, you can reward players.
There is, I played on another server that does something similar and you got vote crates that you opened for special voting tools, armor, random crap, small money amounts... It was always fun as someone voted to watch it countdown. PLUS, along with another suggestion if the server goes the "Boosters" route to gain revenue, having a "decrease the amount of votes for a vote party" or "free vote crates" I know that people bought them like CRAZY on the other server.
