Minecraft Name: goblizz Suggestion: Revamp the Wiki and its usage (especially with the release of the hub) by doing the following: 1. New Banner: For obvious reasons. We've had the same banner for a while now on the wiki (in fact, the same one for almost two years). Based on the last few contests we've had for banners and icons, there are a few awesome graphic designers in the ECC community who would make some awesome banners for the wiki. 2. Accessibility: Some of the really good links on the wiki, like the EcoLeaders+ list, the towns list, and such are hidden in the depths of the wiki. Sure, us wiki team members and older users know exactly where to find everything, but do the new users? A link that would send us to the tutorials section would allow new members to find tutorials easily and effectively. 3. Merge the Wiki and the Basic Tutorials Section of the Forums. I know that this would arguably be the toughest one of the group, as there are over 300 tutorial links throughout the section. However, many of them are on similar topics, such as moneymaking or macromod. By merging the two sections and condensing the threads down to like 20-25 main topics on the wiki, it would make things more easily accessible and in one place. For example, the page would look something like this: Tutorials: 1. MacroMod - Tutorial 1 - Tutorial 2 2. MoneyMaking Methods etc. FAQ: How would tutorials get on the wiki? People could post their tutorials in the "Wiki Submissions" section, and like staff handles complaints, the wiki team would accept or deny the tutorial and put in into formatting and such for the wiki. (will edit more as asked) Reason: The wiki is dead, and doing this would A) give something for the Wiki Team to work on, and B) provide incentive for people to want to join the wiki team. Any Other Information: Nope. Link To This Plugin/Is this a custom addition?: I thought of it, but it would just involve the Wiki and the Xenforo Forums.
I don't like that idea as it really isn't feasible with the way we want stuff to be able to be edited. We can't (as far as I know) give wiki team members permission to edit others posts ONLY if it is a wiki team post, and we're going to need a lot of edits in the near future. Hm, seems interesting. I'm not entirely sure how much I like it, but it does seem cleaner and and would fit better with our Xenforo theme. Normally I'd be opposed to moving everything over but we're going to have to change a lot regarding the wiki with the hub anyway. Overall I like the suggested changes - do want to discuss the above with Andrew first though.
Yes I like this idea, it will give us wiki members something to work on. I like the idea of having the bigger wiki team created threads more visible
Redesign the wiki using the software we currently are using Converting t the wiki on xenoforo would limit the plugins we use on top of the fact it's still in beta The layout is just outdated And need a bigger image/link to get to the wiki team additions It's mainly focused on the applications which is fair enough, but you want to give the other bits exposure if they are kept up to date
Where does it say its in Beta? I can't see it. https://xenforo.com/community/resources/8wayrun-com-xencarta-wiki-pro.1690/
With the wiki overhaul happening, most of this is resolved. However, I would still like input on adding in tutorials to the wiki. Bump.
