Then why do we need to change the rule if it's already in place?

 

-1 while I'm sure some people like me are not offended or bothered by these words (I hear them everyday at school lol) there are young kids on ECC, some who rarely hear these kinds of words. Their parents don't want them exposed to them or using them.

Then I think that might be where the issue is, not necessarily in the rule itself. Plus, it could be an accumulation of notes over time.

 

This wasn't so much as to what he said but more of who said it. Kind of what TrueStud said, this user has a history of swearing so it's not an isolated incedent.

Personally I think swearing of any kind, regardless of whether or not it's directed at anyone, should be outright abolished. There's no such thing as a slip-up or accidentally swearing in chat, in order for you to swear in chat, you would have to first think about it, decide that it's a good idea, type it out, remind yourself that it's a good idea, and then send it. Talking in global and talking in minecraft chat are not the same and should not be treated the same.

If you wouldn't say it to your grandmother, you shouldn't be saying it here. The fact is that there are a lot of young kids on here and prohibiting vulgarity would not be solely to protect their innocence and to censor them from reality, as I'm aware is not practical, but instead to give them an example of how to behave and interact. Players that constantly curse and use profanity are of no use to them and anyone else on ECC.

For every person that doesn't care about swearing there is someone who does. The way it is now is fine.
