That doesn't tell me how to explain what market value is/how to figure out market value.

Market value is the amount the majority of users looking to purchase and item are willing to pay. Or the amount the majority of users looking to sell an item are willing to sell it for. This means that if someone has a buy sign at 700 for 10 nstars it would be illegal since it's much lower than anyone would want to sell their stars for without being tricked in some way.

All users won't be paying the same though.
How would we calculate this? Do we include old users? Just average prices at spawn/trade shops? Seems very work intensive. How would someone go about proving innocence in such a case?

(If it seem's like I'm being overly antagonistic - I do like the idea. But I'm not adding a rule that's half-baked and sure to cause issues - I want it clear)

how do you define the majority? how do you count total amount of players willing to buy/sell?

pretty much the average of what most shops sell for most shops sell a single nsar for any where from 575-600 so around that area is fine so if someone is trying to charge 10k for a single nstar its kinda like a "troll auc" but with trade signs

Yes I completely under stand that. I think the person doing the complaint should be required to provide the average buy/sell price of the item (depending on what's needed for the complaint) from 15 different spawn shops that have the items in stock for a buy sign and the money in stock for a sell sign( this eliminates inactive shops that would not be up to date on market prices). They will then need to provide the station number of these shops so they can be checked to make sure they didn't falsify numbers. They would also need to provide screen shots of the sign they bought or sold from/to. You could prove your innocent by finding that the market value of the item is actually within 30% of what you were selling for or that you did not have a trade sign that broke the rules.

These are just some ideas if you didn't like them and or want more I can attempt to come up with new/. More things

I cant see why you cant do it as a case to case basis.
As it seems every rule is currently like that, from amount of trade signs in a shop, to vulgar language, even to griefings...so why not add this to the endless list of mod discretion rules. :)

Its more clear cut then any of the ons i just mentioned...

Sure id prefer a set rule, but for some cases, you just know that they are trying to mug people off...isnt rocket science.
And to just say well, people should read what they are clicking, the people who wont be reading will be the players who dont understand trade signs and they will be the new builders.

Who btw we are trying to encourage to stay here, not letting them get mugged off there nstars and then quit because they didnt know which sign to click

"If an item exceeds the value of the average price of the current item by lets say 25% you will receive a warning to change your pricing. If you do not Change anything you will receive a ban for trolling prices in the player market" the percent could be changed to any percent that would seem fit

I agree with this suggestion, I don't agree with the definitions that are going along with it however. What matrix did wasn't technically wrong, it was very unethical and morally corrupt, yes. But we also must take responsibility to read signs. There are tutorials on how to make them in the wiki.

That being said, I think that the root of the problem here is the unspecific trade ads. Matrix advertised that he was "Buying netherstars for a high price! 35k in the sign! /warp station50" or something very very close to that. All veteran users are aware of the price netherstars are selling for now. Matrix having a very unspecific trade ad and taking advantage of the people who were oblivious of how to read the sign isn't technically rule breaking, but it is a horrible thing to do.

I don't see much we can actually do about this. You live, you learn. This should encourage players to watch out for things like this and to take the time to fully read through the wiki. Try to help out players if they are in this situation and enlighten them on the bad deal that they are receiving. It's a matter of having morals, if you do such a thing and don't feel bad about it, by all means. As long as it isn't rule breaking, Nothing we can do.

-1, it's not the shop owners fault if people fail to read trade signs correctly.

Intentionally pull what? If I owned a shop and people were just clicking every trade sign they saw I'd start doing this kind of thing, you can't blame the shop owners for exploiting other people's stupidity and negligence when it comes to reading a trade sign.
