    Hey guys,

    Just thought it would be nice to suggest that new players automatically get /kit starter when they join the server for the first time. It would really help them get started, and will probably stop them complaining that they have nothing.

    Edit: All the other times they will have to do /kit starter by them selves, so don't worry about it affecting the economy and all that.

    It's strongly encouraged already, so it's certainly a good idea. I'd also like there to be a message about /kit starter and why users receive this. Of course, there are those who want to start off with nothing, but most would love to have that starter kit. I know that I used it.

    I know it's very possible to do this with essentials. Takes 3 minutes in config tops. +1

    It would also be nice if this caused the banner to not remind me of those same beginner things everytime I log in as if I was brand new. New users would get that message and the starter kit and all other returning users could receive recent news or something in that spot which would have headed off so many of those lwc bans out of ignorance we just had.

    But since everytime log in it has put me back in sg and lottery channels and un ignore every user I ignored and I spend the first minutes trying not to command spam into returning all the settings I like, I am doubtful this would be or could be implemented.

    But plus one for good idea.

    This would be wonderful! I know a lot of builders get overwhelmed by all the signs in the tutorial, don't bother to read it all, then ask about starting tools. IMO this would be great if it can be implemented.

    Yeah, maybe 1 builder in 10 or more who shows up looking for a plot, has gone through the turorial or even wants to because its so packed with info that it feels like cramming for a final trying to put it all in your brain at once. Many of those arrive with empty wallets and inventories. A small but distressing amount of them show up actually starving to death taking damage.

    Granted I have made some terrific, appreciative and now very adept ecc friends by meeting them in dire straits and helpimg, but it would be good if they at least werent actually starving.

    It is indeed very possible to do this by modifying the essentials config.

    However, here's a problem with this suggestion:
    The cooldown doesn't apply to the kit when the players automatically get the kit. Therefore, when a player joins the server, they can get 2x as much stuff from kit starter as they would regularly (By joining and using /kit starter. You get a kit each instance.)

    That's not a "big problem" since the kit is only worth about $30. If people can get 2 within shortly joining it won't much matter, as they'll likely upgrade the tools within 15 minutes and just use the resources.

    "Big problem" may have been over stated, but it is a problem regardless.

    I really think that builders need more help, not less. Allowing a second /kit starter is actually better for them.

    Because they're getting more things than they're supposed to? Sure, it's not a lot, but we should be having players become self-sufficient themselves, and /kit starter rewards is best kept small.

    Even if someone can get 2 they won't be dependant on it... you get 10 coal, 10 logs, 18 sticks, 2 string, a crafting table, and a set of stone tools. The tools are irrelevant, they'll be upgraded. The logs and coal are useful, but even 20 won't keep you supplied for very long at all.

    I really don't think they are going to break the economy with their two stone tool sets and handful of pork and coal a day. Oh no but I forgot the flint! imagine the horror of all that extra flint flooding the marketplace!

    Really I think it would vastly benefit the economy to make things easier for builders because the more of them that get help long enough to figure it out the more they stay, the more money and labor force we have.

    I guess so, but I'd much rather them get as little as possible, just the bare minimum to start out. It isn't really a problem, nor is there any bad effects of it.
