IGN: TaylorBros2 Suggestion: underneath the place on the forums were it says the amount of people on and online/offline, there could be a message underneath Offline stating why we are offline Reason: So the chat box in the forums is not bombarded with questions of why the server is down, and the staff/other players wouldnt have to repeat themselves with the same reason each time Other Info: Thanks for reading Plugins: I don't think there is any for this
How would this update? We don't always get a reason why it's down, and this would need to be manually updated - Andrew won't waste his time for restarts, there's only blue mods on during an autorestart, the server crashes and staff have bigger issues, etc. Ultimately asking in the shoutbox why it's down is probably your best bet.
@nicit6: In answer to this there may be a way for one of the developers to get an automated message to show up underneath the Offline box every time the server is down. For example for a restart the message could be: 'Restarting, up again in <x> minutes' or if the problem is unknown it could say: 'the problem at this time is not yet known' This is mainly to stop the staff and other users time being wasted by people asking timelessly why the server is down and if the will be an ETA. Thanks for your thoughts though.
Just asking the question is usually enough. It's only a rare occasion that the server is down for longer than a couple of minutes. You're better off just asking. As for the technical possibilities.. It's possible, but not worth the time and effort put into it. It's spending 8 hours to save a couple of minutes of answering questions.
Okay thanks for answering here, I didn't realise it would take so long to do! I thought it may be a click of a few buttons! Sorry!
I don't particularly enjoy this suggestion. I don't really know how it would work to begin with. For example, Intreppid goes down, how would be able to know that? I don't see how this would work out. Sorry, -1.
