    Minecraft Name:
    @Ladyvamptress

    Suggestion:
Alteration of the TeamSpeak rules. Change the following:

    • All users must use their full in game minecraft username at all times.

    To state the following:

    • All users names must be similar to their minecraft name at all times.

    Reason:
I was on TS and noticed a user's name wasn't their IGN, so I asked an smod what should I do and this smod contacted other staff with my question and I was told that as long as staff can tell who it is, it's ok. I have the screenshot of the smod saying this if needed.

    Any Other Information:
I'm only making this suggestion because with it the way it is, it makes staff look like they aren't doing their job and almost caused a mod to have a staff complaint filed against them for not enforcing the rules as that mod was in the same channel with the user in question.

Link To This Plugin/Is this a custom addition?:
    N/A, simple rule change.

This seems more like there's an issue with this rule being enforced, I'd rather keep it the way it is because it's easier to identify people.

To me as well Eek. I almost filed a staff complaint for the staff member not enforcing the rules, but I thought to ask another staff member before taking action and apparently other staff stated that it's ok as long as they know who it is. It's not my place to tell them what rules to have, but if they are going to allow similar names, the rules should reflect that so mods don't look like they aren't doing their jobs.

I personally believe users should be required to put their full name is as it makes it easier to tell who people are and the fact that there's a couple users who have similar names. For example, there's a lot of users who's name starts with iTz - Imagine the confusion if one of them went into TS with the name of "iTz".

It sounds like an enforcement problem to me. I believe a better suggestion would be to edit the staff guidelines/have staff more consistently enforce these rules.

Either way, the rule or enforcement of the rule needs to be changed. It's quite silly to have rules that aren't even enforced.

I think similar is fine, as long as people can tell who a person is. I think it comes down to staff discretion but If I make my name RyanBlocks without the 2 or something like that I think it should be allowed.

If we leave something as simple as this, with so little possible variables, up to staff discretion, it'll often lead to arbitrary and inconsistent punishments regarding this - Some staff will require users to change their name while others won't, leading to complaints. Anyway, it's quite silly to have rules that aren't even properly enforced. It literally does no harm to require you to change your name to your full MC username.

Eh, I suppose this is true but I really haven't seen much of a problem with names not being enforced.

I would prefer full IGN/Forum names, but my concern isn't the rule itself or how staff handle it. It's inconsistency... stating a rule one way, but handling it another. It really does make staff look like they are incompetent or not even doing their job. I'm not suggesting what the rule should be, could care less either way, just that the rule and how staff handle it match.

So in short either the main rule changes to allow similar names to users IGN/forum names OR staff need to crack down and make sure all users use their exact IGN/forum name on TS. Either way gets the job done.

It would just be easier if the rule does not change as it makes sense and that the staff members making the accidental mistake are just reminded of the difference without massive fuss.

Would be the most logical things yes, but it wasn't a mistake some new mod made. It was instructions from an SA. The staff team here is starting to look like a joke to people and a lot of respect is going out the window, I only wanna help staff regain some respect here because being lax and letting people bend or break rules is a bit much. If this is how the staff want to handle it, then like I said... I will not dispute their choice, but please change the rule to match how the situation is going to be handled. All I'm asking.

Well then, they need to sit down have a staff discussion and have a look where its gone wrong down the line and make modifications like you say to either the rule or the staff.

Thus the point of this suggestions. To reevaluate this situation and make changes accordingly.

Then can the wiki rule be changed too so staff don't look like idiots or that they are allowing their friends to break the rules?

Haven't quite yet xD TS guidelines are currently being rewritten by staff, after this the rules should be updated if it's still needed.

Short and sweet, as long as the user in TeamSpeak is easily identifiable (eg. ClarinetPhoenix as Clar or Clarinet) there should be no issue.

Edit:I suppose this is technically added. Wiki will be updated when be guidelines are finished.
