Personally, I really enjoy the new spawn. It is much nicer to look at than the modest, previous versions of spawn and imo gives a better first impression. It's more orderly, the old spawn just looked cluttered and that is was bits and pieces of many things pulled together. On top of that, it just makes more sense than our old spawn as we are actually using all the space given to us. Before, we had two portals for most of the worlds and the ones near the edge of spawn went mostly unused, alongside the other various additions to spawn (dance club, andrew's house, afk fountain etc.). Now, everything has a place and it is organized, but not so much that it looks like a prison.

TL;DR: I like it, good balance of organized and nice to look at.

I agree with Deluc about the cleaner, more organized feel to it. But I think it could go even further in that direction.
Its ecoCITYcraft. So make it look like a CITY. Have streets and tall skyscrapers and parks and maybe underground "metro" or "subway" stations for the portals to the the other worlds/shops etc.

I don't know if a Contest is the best way to go about doing it. I certainly wouldn't want mob mentality to choose what build to follow. But a "no guarantee's, just get the ideas flowing" contest might be a good idea and I would contribute to the pot.

 

People inherently don't like change.
I wasnt here but was the reception of the previous change to spawn similarly greeted?

 

I think spawn is too spread out and the portals are far apart with lots of space between them and I have to turn around and sprint a longer distance back and forth to go to the market, town portals, and etc, which is annoying. I wouldn't find it annoying if they added something cool between those large spaces. Like an enormous park with fountains, colorful paths, waterfalls, gardens and etc.

 

I would love to see a contest hosted for a new design spawn. The community is the foundation of the server, and spawn would be a great place to find the creativity and innovation that the player base really has to offer! Great suggestion, and I really hope that this idea goes somewhere.

 

It may be natural for humans to not like change. But that doesn't mean a change of spawn will be bad.

Remember, people only change things to improve something or to make it better.
You can't just say that a change will result in uncomfortableness and is extremely risky because it might make things worse. But No, things have to change, because we have to realize doing so will make things better. We have to adapt to changes anyways.

Although you might not want change because it might make things worse when it was meant to be for greater good, you can't just sit there and not make changes to things. Without changes, you will be behind, and left in the dust, while other people advance on while you stay the same, and outdated.

For example, if you keep trying to stay away from change, you will not advance or get better or worse. You will stay the same, no improvement, no new stuff, and no advancement. Its just like choosing to ride horseback instead of trying out the new invention, the automobile. Because you think if you change to a new form of transportation, you are risking the fact that it might make things worse. So then you become outdated and unadvanced, still riding a horse to go to work, while the smart people go to work faster, driving past you in their Audi's.

I hate new spawn. Its a stupid piece of empty land with portals all spread out with nothing interesting and it wouldn't attract me to this server if i just joined and walked around spawn.

You say new spawn is much better because it feels like you just got released from a cramped, unorganized, prison.


Well, thats just like being released from a cage and into a a stinkin' wasteland.

Spawn feels empty because there is too much unfilled space. Way too much with nothing interesting or attractive.

Ok, i remember it being cluttered with the snipe andrews mansion tons of space, and everything being spread out. Then the hunger games signs and alot of lag in that one area.

 

I agree with revan the new spawn is way to confusing and spread out and is way worse than old one i dont like it at all.

 

I don't understand how they are trying to attract players. They took away that good stuff.

I personally think that this post is a bit early. We are not done building the new spawn, so yeah, there is a lot of empty space. But in a week or two, it will (hopefully) be finished and filled in like the old one. What is there now is not the final product.
