/spawn is the safest

 

Yeah you don't burn like you do at your home, so you won't die.

 

You could just make a macro for /home and set it to a certain key.

I never do /spawn , just in case I do end up dying somehow; then my things won't be spewed all over for everyone to go pick up.

I also agree with Yoshinigami_ about the armor part - I spent maybe 15k on one pair on protection IV armor, and that has totally eliminated my need for pyro. I am usually able to lava-swim for about 15 seconds in full protIV armor before dying, giving me plenty of time to do /home (then /back once I'm fully healed up to get back to where I was).

I wear fire protection....

 

Even just regular diamond armor gives me about ~5 seconds to do /home, where I have a water source.

 

If you are a slow at typing and have extra commands you can bind an object to the command /spawn.

 

Or you can Bind A key to /spawn using The " Macro Mod "
It is very helpful :)

 

NEVER use /spawn, always use /home

 

how do you die in an area where the invincibility flag is on

 

Glitch? Idk, I'm not an expert on the invincibility flag mechanics, maybe if you are unlucky enough that you die exactly at the same time you hit teleport, your death (and inventory drop) completes when you're at spawn. I really don't know, but why take a risk? Just set home in a safe enough vault (maybe with some water) where you and only you have access

 

Also worth investing in some fire protection armour. you can last ages in lava with that stuff on!

There is a macro eekelmo made, when you get about that low on health, it sends you to home immediately.
