    Complaint:
    Afk macro mod use
    Evidence:
    Additional Information:
This user is using the trade channel to advertise while being afk, and has been doing so for awhile. This user is tradingservices that he can not even do while being afk. He is advertising services like tp, water, mob transfers, etc. He is using a macro mod script to do so. This is no different from someone using macro mod script to afk farm or afk fish. The user is using macro mod as a way of business while being afk.

This is illegal and breaks 2 rules, stated in the EcoCityCraft rules.

The use of any means to earn money without doing any work is prohibited "Claus 4 - Automation"

The user while being afk is displaying trade messages as a means to advertise a server he can't withhold while being afk. The user is advertising servers like water placements, teleports to a certain location, mob transfers and more, all jobs that the user would have to be online for, while being afk. This user is advertising while being afk as a means to get business without being at his computer or out. He is earning business, which on an economy server, means money, by advertising his trade in the trade channel.

This also breaks the general chat rule, Any user who is consistently using a channel in a way to disturb those attempting to use certain channels may be removed from the channel and/or punished.

This user is putting in trade messages in chat every 3 minutes while being afk. Meaning taking space/ time away from users who are advertising and are currently on at the time of their advertisements. Therefore disturbing those attempting to use the channel properly. His message is constantly broadcasted to all of ecc the same as any other user who is online at the time, which is an unfair advantage, since this player does not even have to be on at the time.

I feel as this rule should be directly outlined if this user is not punished, into whether or not being afk while using macro mod trading scripts is legal or not.

    Well, no.

    Clause 4 - Automation
    • The use of any means to earn money without doing any work is prohibited.
    • This includes, but is not limited to, macromod scripts, autofisher mods, fully automated farms, and physical means to hold a button down while away from your computer.
    • Usage of automated means is allowed for MCMMO grinding, providing you are not generating money and are not afk (e.g. an autoclicker to train the swords skill on a player is allowed, an autoclicker to train the swords skill on a mob spawner is not).
    • If you are found to have used any kind of illegal automation, your relevant statistics/balance will be reduced and/or cleared entirely at the discretion of administration.
    • Be warned that we take this very seriously.
Take note of the "without doing any work" - it's an advertisement. There's no product unless he can regularly and reliably update his stock, or provide his service, which is work. Interpreting this the other way around is like saying that simply running a shop violates this rule as one can make money without directly being there.

Saying it's against the chat rules is also untrue - these rules make no distinction between the use of these channels from afk or non-afk players. This means that, legally, there is no difference between being afk and not being afk when using these channels. As these posts fall within our rules for trade chat, general chat, and really any applicable chat rules, this rule is also not grounds to declare this activity illegal.

The fact of the matter is that this activity is legal. If you would not like it to be, please use our suggestion forum.
