Minecraft Name:
Akwio
Suggestion:
Add in a language filter so the young minecraft players don't have to deal with it
Reason:
So the staff have it a lot easier.
Other Information:
If the developers look down on cursing, then why dont they add a language filter? Is the reason behind having no language filter to give the staff jobs?

Vintage_Gamer BuilderBuilder ⛰️ Ex-President ⚒️⚒️ Premium UpgradeThis has been suggested loads of times.
This probably wont happen as it is Staff's job to Moderate in-game. -
ECC is a family friendly server, but it doesn't mean you can't curse. I say stuff like "aww shit" in global chat, and that's fine. People find it funny (sometimes), and it doesn't really hurt anybody.
-
Vintage_Gamer BuilderBuilder ⛰️ Ex-President ⚒️⚒️ Premium UpgradeI believe you can swear, as long as it isn't aimed at anyone.
But no over excessive swearing obviously. -
This is true. In practice most issues are with people swearing either in excess or directed at someone. 99% of the swearing issue comes from players at spawn who appear only to cause problems, and I guarantee that they would find a way to bypass a swear filter - in the end we handle these things rather quickly.
I'd also like to add if you don't like some of the language a player is using you can /ignore them and not see their messages.-

Aswell...simply add a spacebar anywhere in the word. Not detected by language filter...there are too many possibilities to add them all to the filter.

Its just a suggestion, i dont mind if someone curses or not but what really bothers me is when someone curses in global or trade chat and my friends go "Oh he cursed!" Its like really guys? lol

+1 I think will help players and Moderators, It's job as a moderator but it'll be great, the other day i saw @banneduser. tell [Mod Edit] while in spawn, if i was a kid will literally go tell my mom; the server will maybe lose 1 client.

Usually filters are a very flawed system. In some cases they are very easy to bypass and at times filter something that isn't a swear.

In the game, people choose to make decisions. If they choose wrongly punishment is tacked on.. therefor staff are giving people a chance to choose wrong or correctly.

If this was added people who love having a potty mouth could type in cuss words they would like and it would be censored, which I believe is allowed. The only way people will get warned is bypassing.
It can be beneficial, seeing as people can still cuss if they'd like, but not to the expense of people who'd rather not. -

Well, lets say we get a language filter. I don't feel like spending the next year trying to figure out all iterations of the curse words. People will do anything to get around a filter if they want to. I prefer it this way so private passworded channels, where the rules are pretty lax, as well as PM's can still allow bad language if they want to.

Didn't think about that...(u iz geniwso_O) -
Here's my view on it, if someone curses normally it's blocked but if they get around it then they have to put more effort to curse and I don't see the point in that. If you can't curse then don't curse. I suggested this for the sake of my little brother because he might ask what something means and that puts me in an awkward position. Since this is a family friendly server it would be weird for a parents child to ask them what so and so means.

Adding a chat filter adds a layer of automation to do moderation process which in my opinion is never good. For example, when I played Runescape I don't even know how long ago I remember there was a chat filter and it was quite annoying as it would bleep out words such as "witch" and "phone" even if I used them in correct context. Moderators already do a good job keeping chat clean by kicking/banning users if they continue to swear and adding a chat filter won't make ECC any better.
