Ok... So I've been gone for quite some time. Like a year and half. Things have changed and I understand that, but why were the requests for World Edits in towns removed? Anyone know? Having World Edit was really useful for making underground farms and clearing large amounts of land without having to spend ludicrous amounts of time doing it by hand.
Welcome back! World Edit was removed for various reasons (some stated and some not). I believe one of the major issues was lag. Taking the server down - or letting people deal with severe lag/lag very often - wasn't logical. As well, I think there were internal/plugin issues with it. Once in a while Andrew has extremely short periods available for World Edits, but usually he's in a really good mood + they cost a lot. Doesn't happen too often.
nowadays there's enchantments that decrease the time it takes to dig stuff out, though. It makes a huge difference.
