Well I got bored and decided to run some numbers and see what happens (these numbers are on the main world) On average 3.92 towns are added per day (24 hour period)* The average number of surface blocks being protected per day 156,800** The current 200x200 protected areas (as of June 2, 2012) 618*** The current number of protected surface blocks (as of June 2, 2012) 24,720,000**** At the current rate, and assuming no more map extensions we have 1,277 days before we run out of space. Give or take a few weeks ECC will run out of space on December 1, 2015 *This number was found averaging the past 14 days of all added towns. (rejected apps were not counted) **this number assumes every added town was 200x200 ***I found this one by counting every single 200x200 box on the live map and adding a few numbers for the many smaller protections. Because I counted these and made educated guesses the real number could be much higher or lower. ****This was based of the 618 number and is out of a possible 225,000,000 surface blocks (Also if you assume the world is flat at a height of 64 blocks and there are no caves, etc. underground The total number of blocks on ECC is 14,400,000,000) As I said before, I was bored so I was just having a little fun with numbers. Also I know I make a lot of assumptions and educated guesses so these numbers could be very far off. If anyone wants to try to get more accurate numbers and post them here I would be interested in seeing them.
Re: Some Interesting Numbers regarding ECC I hope the numbers are right... People really need to realize the map will never get full in ECC's time. >3>
Re: Some Interesting Numbers regarding ECC This does not count area between towns, nor does it account for the growth function of towns per day. Over time, the towns added/day will increase, and not every town will line up perfectly, And your forgetting that once the map reaches a certain population of towns a reset or more land (preferably a reset) will be required due to no possible way for builders to make money
Re: Some Interesting Numbers regarding ECC I am well aware it doesn’t take into account area between towns, or increase to the addition rate. Factoring those in is frankly just too time consuming right now, or impossible. (Might try to take educated guesses at it another day) That’s why I said give or take a few weeks on the fill date. Also yes I’m aware it will never reach the point where it’s filled because we will expand; I was just stating the current numbers.
Re: Some Interesting Numbers regarding ECC Sorry i came off as rude Not what i meant to do. Step father pulled into driveway. Hit submit and left. Lol didnt even put a period. Anyways, the other main reason I listed is that I am hoping for sometime within the next few months to a year the map is reset I would enjoy this immensely. Lolz
Re: Some Interesting Numbers regarding ECC No offense taken, I took it as constructive criticism. Plus you gave me an idea on how to take into account the increase in the town addition rate, so I should thank you for that.
Re: Some Interesting Numbers regarding ECC In my opinion, wouldnt creating a "wild" world more effective than enlarging the map? I know it would casue lag, but this is when something like a map reset is in question, and mob spawning is on for 2 worlds, so...
Re: Some Interesting Numbers regarding ECC Thehockeykids: mining world is a "wild" world, but you'll have to be resident to get in.
Re: Some Interesting Numbers regarding ECC I mean non pvp, like just going through a build gate, that kins of wild
Re: Some Interesting Numbers regarding ECC Wait waffles are at risk here I think because builders make them and if the towns cover there waffles we will all die!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Re: Some Interesting Numbers regarding ECC LOL counting down to the ECC apocolypse where the economy fails and theres no land in the wild?...... he has a point if this continues the server will die and everything will crash : P
Re: Some Interesting Numbers regarding ECC So I was bored again and decided why not find some more semi-interesting facts out about ECC. Today’s topic is mining all based on the main world again. Also this assumes that our current 15,000x15,000 map was all generated at once. So thanks to the averages provided by our friends on the Minecraft Wiki, I’ve figured the following numbers out. There was originally 73,828,125 pieces of Iron ore spawned on ECC. This ore if sold at server price is worth $553,710,937.50 There was originally 3,014,648.43 pieces of Lapis Lazuli ore spawned on EEC. This ore (and assuming you only get one piece of lapis per ore) if sold at server price is worth $12,058,593.75 There was originally 21,972,656.25 pieces of Redstone ore spawned on ECC. This ore (and assuming you only get one piece of Redstone per ore) if sold at server price is worth $54,931,640.62 There was originally 2,721,972.65 Diamond ore spawned on ECC. This ore if sold at $85 is worth $231,367,675.78 This means in total there was 108,129,198.55 pieces of ore on ECC. The total value of ore on ECC is $917,986,816.40 Who says there’s no money in mining. I know coal ore was left out; this is due to no average being stated on the Minecraft Wiki and no reliable way for me to find one. All numbers were found by taking the average number of times a certain ore appears in each chunk and multiplying it by 878,906.25 (The amount of chunks ECC has total on its main world) If anyone can see a mistake I made please point it out, I have a feeling there are many. On one last note I decided to post this in my old thread because I didn’t want to littler the forums with another numbers thread.
Re: Some Interesting Numbers regarding ECC Imagine the DImaond sold at $100 each  That would be $272,197,265! I want it all
Re: Some Interesting Numbers regarding ECC I think most of he blank space is in the middle of the ocean...
Re: Some Interesting Numbers regarding ECC As someone who is a huge fan of statistics and numbers I found this to be very interesting. Great post.
