I got a new idea for a gamemode called build to survive. i already made a thread with this idea but the concept was still pretty basic so i improved it.
This is the idea: build a base in 2 minutes to protect you from 60 seconds of mass zombie spawning.
Like in creative, everyone gets a plot but instead of 99x99 its 33x33. Also there are two layers: a grass block layer and a bedrock layer so you cant pussy out in a basement. As you join, you get the same loadout as you do in skyblock. You can also complete various challenges to get items that will help to survive the zombies.
That basically the idea. Plz tell me what you guys think and also tell me how to improve the idea.

Lol, indeed. This was my first idea:
2 minutes in creative mode to make a house and after that 1 minute in survival with mass-zombie spawning. When you leave your plot gets cleared so a new person can join. There are 49 plots in 7x7 grid.
I thought this was too basic so i added more things, then realised it was just skyblock but not in the sky and bigger, but posted it anyways.

Your new idea sounds better. I'd certainly give it a go. I can just imagine creating a li'l civilization wif mah buds. I think 2 minutes might be a bit too short though. I'd suggest making it 5 minutes to prepare and 5 minutes to fend off the hordes. Also, could there be some way to get a bigger plot? (like from donation ranks maybe)

This is a really cool idea! Just to throw another idea out there, what if there were some ores spread throughout the plot, as in they would replace some of the dirt blocks? Not every block would be an ore though. Further out, there could be better ores like iron and diamonds. The trick is that you could be risking it trying to get the more valuable resources and either lowering or heightening your chance of survival depending on what you choose to do.

There should be certain parts of the world that still natural landscape...and if you venture into there you can find some chests with loot in in...like there will be a plot that is 150x150 that I just like trees and stuff, but when the zombie horde begins...the chests spawn randomly inside, but the amount of zombies is increased in that area...haha the chest should also have good stuff because they would be hard to find.

I'm liking the sound of this. Tigerclaw's idea about the plot being a landscape rather than just flatland is good. The build time should be a bit higher than 2 minutes I think. Also there's a big point I want to bring up regarding Zombie behavior. The "build to survive" concept is great but shouldn't the Zombies have some destructive or mobile capabilities? Perhaps they could slowly break through blocks or have buffs like Jump Boost because it's not that hard to make a mob-proof base and one could just make a 1x1 tower upwards and be perfectly safe.
There should also be some kind of Scoreboard system showing information as well as a currency system to allow an additional way to get items. This would also create an incentive to actively pick fights with Zombies, not just stake out in your fort.
I'm a fan of the "build to survive" concept and not enough servers have it. I'd like to see this small idea blooms into a minigame someday. -
