Is nether dangerous/worth it? How to survive? What I do:

Definitely have feather4.... I died from fall damage into lava... with pyro+....

This thread convinced me to get the nether and I don't regret it at all. I'm rolling in quartz! I like to go into the nether when there are less people online. I haven't seen a single person in the nether yet and I found an unlooted fortress!

 

I can't find much quartz, but then again I'm so paranoid someone is going to kill me that I'm constantly looking around. Whenever I see something move, I type /spawn as fast as I can, only to realize it was a zombie pigman. I did once see someone, and although he was around 100 blocks below me, I panicked and went to spawn.

 

I got nether access and I go in with iron armour and a fort 3 pic and iron sword. I haven't seen an enemy player or many mobs whatsoever. You just have to be carefull about falling and lava and your good!

 

I'm going to have to say, that if I could have 3 donator perks, it would be /back, tombstone, and pyro+

 

I've been hitting the Nether with nothing but iron armor and about 5 iron pick axes and doing just fine. It is all about your willingness to Let go and have fun. See ya in the Nether.

 

It helps a lot to have multihome. Then, you can go into the nether with only a diamond pickaxe and try to get away from spawn without being bothered. Once you're away a bit, set a home and come back with armor and a better pick.

Well, You need like pryo+ god mode, (Op portiv or star gear<give to me for free) But then in the end not worth the money and we got some lag killers, spawn killers and the fly droper kills

 

I just like go in there with a maxand here comes some op moron and kill you when you just wanna mine

 

This is a very interesting thread atm but i do feel that pvp in the nether is at an all time low....

I think nether is great - my stats so far (Access since a bit, actively mining there since 48 hours. ^.^):
Over 8 stacks of nether quartz ore -> 17 stacks of quartz.
One kill, awesome pick aquired.
Zero deaths.

Helpful equipment:
Diamond armour
Feather falling 4 boots
Fire protection 4 chestplate
Eff5 ST D-Pick.

So does mining for an hour in the nether make more than mining for an hour in the mining world?

As I am playing ecc more, I have gone mining less? I choose to buy materials. At one point, as a resident I went into the nether with nothing more than food and my max dpick. Then again I was accompanied by zorracraft... Who was in pro 4 armor.. with shp 5 sword... and an eff 7... and he has fly and pyro+...:/ But a small list of things that are the BARE MINIMUM to survive in the nether.
~A fortune Pickaxe (Optional)
~2-3 iron pickaxes (If no fortune pick)
~I like to use multihome
~An Iron chestplate is usually enough armor
~A stack of dirt/cobblestone for non-fly users!

That's really all you need to have a sucessful mine in the nether

 

I bought it. And never go in... I dunno why
