    SUBMISSION:
    • All glow stone on the ground should have 4 blocks high of Oak Leaves (didn't have leaf decay so it was annoying to do on SP)
    • I didn't use the chunk mod, but you can align them so they aren't in the same chunk. The shops are small enough anyways that it won't be a huge issue.
    • Prime shop orientation is heavily modified but modeled after the "original" market.

Is it required that we build a portal? Or can the portal simply spawn the player there?

    Have you benchmarked this?
This is worse for lag than the current testing one we have.

Yeah, I did a uniform 8 block height on all shops though. All test shops were made of Quartz in a U shape with signs on all sides facing inwards. 4 full lines of text. Average frames dropped from 62-65 to 28-31 with no
    Mods, without the following possibility:

Also, the invis portals reduce lag. Something I'd suggest to make it even more effective is having the market be in its own world. This is something we did on Potato. We used invis portals to devide each market section. Basically, the market would actually be copies 5 times, and look like this

Left side non-prime shops --500 blocks-- Left side prime shops -- 500 blocks-- market spawn --500 blocks-- Right side prime shops --500 blocks-- Right side non prime shops

This makes for almost no additional lag to be honest. The market was intentionally designed to help support this. The raised platform on the no prime shops combats issues with continuity, because you can't see the lack of the actual shops on the section above/below.

This is not in my world, but it's very easy to do.

The problem is chunks being rendered, with all the signs still being rendered, but the text not.
The shops really need to be separated out by the radius of the render distance apart in order to be realistically feasible.

There will be more total signs rendered and chunks with signs rendered at in this example and the current "new market" than there could be in my design. Limiting shop space accomplishes a similar task.

The new market has 36 rendered 15x15 shops at a time, that's more square footage than my entire market by a significant amount.

Anyway, this will all have to be benchmarked later.
I'll change the submission to be a schematic for easy importing.

    @0524

I like the overall layout. I think it's efficient, and good... though I don't think it will stay free of lag because it isn't compliant with what Jamie wants. I also think that the shops are far too small. I also think that the design, while nice, isn't really... exciting enough for me. I also think that you should use dark oak rather than nether fence. Just my opinion. :)

Thanks for the suggestion Sub, I like the dark oak fences better too.

The shops themselves were intentionally small. Believe it or not, they're actually bigger than the Original market shops. This is in many ways an homage so that market, because of how well it worked.

My main goal was to find a way to make a market similar to that old one in terms of idea. I made modifications to the layout, shop number, and shop size, while keeping the principle the same. The small shops were intentional, and will effectively reduce lag and provide easy mobility and competition around the market.

The Epicure team has started a build for a market proposal. I will be releasing details in the near future.

I'm also making my own market, hope it's as good as yours @0524 @Mendiboi. It only takes up 144 chunks at the moment (and uses 88)... perhaps that's too little. I hope it's feasible with lag issues etc.

Looks a lot more market-like than the current market, but not quite sure if it'll lag much or not. Overall, good job. I like it.
